Kim Evans ~ Staying healthy in these challenging times! Update for March 29, 2020
|
|
|
Hello everyone!
Wanted to give you an update from IIM. In compliance with the governor's request, our office remains closed to foot traffic and we are not seeing any patients in person. We continue to conduct our "office visits" by way of telemedicine (Zoom sessions).
If you need products, please call the office. We will prepare your order and put it in a box in the lobby of the building when you are on your way to pick it up. You may either call in your payment or pay when you arrive to pick up your products from the lobby.
Or, if you prefer, we can mail them to you via USPS.
By now, many of you have been staying in your homes for the last couple weeks. Thank you sincerely for doing your part to contain the virus. Perhaps you have had some insights of what is really important in life - family relationships - good neighbors - and excellent health of body, mind and Spirit.
Maybe you have had more time to pray, meditate, or exercise.
Perhaps you have had more time to cook healthy creative meals.
These are some of the silver linings in this ordeal.
If you are reading this newsletter, we know you already have an interest in holistic health, which puts you way ahead of the average person.
You know what to do to be healthy.
So in this newsletter, I would like to focus on what you can do to keep your immune system healthy. Especially your mind.

Follow Ralph Waldo Emerson's advice:
1. "Stand guard to the portal of your mind."
+ Don't let the "virus" enter your mind. Fear is a low vibration powerful emotion that can wreak havoc with your immune system. Instead keep your vibration high. Remember that whatever you focus on is what expands in your life. Keep your attention on feeling healthy, strengthening your immune system, and enjoying your family.
* Here is another quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
"This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs [albeit virtual for now!] when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life."
2. Do something fun ~
* Watch an uplifting movie
* Paint, draw or work a puzzle (We are currently doing a 1000 piece puzzle called "Hope Cove" - it's a beautiful cove beach scene with a large lighthouse.)
* Laugh at least 20-25 times today.
3. Exercise!
+Several people have posted workouts that you can do at home instead of going to a gym. These are really fun!
* If you are an early bird, get up and do the Classical Stretches with Miranda on KET (6:30 AM Mon-Fri) or on KET 2 at 8:00 AM Saturday and Sunday. (Check for the daily schedule.)
* If you would prefer a later workout, check out my fitness trainer, Clark Spalding. He is doing a livestream workout from Homefit each day at 5:30 PM which can be found on the Homefit FB page.
* Create your own workout routine:
Do 20 jumping jacks
Go up and down your stairs 4-6 times
Walk for 2-3 miles daily
4. Eat healthy -
* For today, make a conscious effort to eat 7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables!

A Letter to a Coronavirus
You're such a tiny uninvited guest
That hides behind a shell
And multiplies relentlessly
By highjacking a cell-
And I'd like to share a nice word
Yet you're not ever so kind
And for something without any brains
You stump the greatest minds-
But someday you'll be disrupted
Like you've disrupted our field
And I sense we'll come out stronger
With mind, body, spirit, healed-
And so I'll ask you at this point
To cut us all some slack
For while we have our issues
We have each other's backs ~
