APRIL 2018
Tired of "April showers?"  Bring on the flowers!
Greetings & Notes from Kim Evans ~ April 2018

It's April! Spring is finally (maybe) springing!  After this long winter, I am definitely ready for more sunshine, warmer temperatures and the kaleidoscope of colors that Kentucky Springs bring.  April Is National Humor Month.  It feels like Mother Nature has been playing an April Fool's joke on us with this prolonged winter.  All the more reason to re-invigorate our humor appreciation and laugh a bit more!  See our Health Tip to find ways to enhance your humor appreciation.

We have lots of great events happening this month.  Reverend Yvonne McCoy was Divinely guided to create Oasis Retreat and Wellness.  This is a retreat for women to experience healing, wholeness and restoration in a safe environment surrounded with unconditional love and support.  The first retreat is this Saturday, April 14th from 8:00 - 5:30.  The day will include sharing, visioning, and learning along with fun activities.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Each participant will receive 2 individual healing modality sessions.  It's going to be a great day!  See details further in this newsletter.
Betty Greaver is presenting a wonderful program titled:  Spring Cleaning! for Our Bodies & Homes
on Tuesday, April 24th. Join her for this program and get your "Spring Cleaning" off to a healthy start!

Jerry Scott is our Practitioner of the Month.  He is doing some great work with the Indigo Biofeedback.  If you've never experienced this healing modality, think about having a session with Jerry.  His biofeedback is incredibly relaxing and can give important clues how to enhance your own health.

This month ~ look for ways to "Spring yourself forward" to renewed health and wellness...
we look forward to seeing you soon!

~Love, Kim

"Life is worth living as long as there's a laugh in it."

~ L.M. Montgomery,
   Anne of Green Gables

"...When the sun gives way to April showers / Here is the point you should never miss / Though April showers may come your way / They bring the flowers that bloom in May / So if it's raining, have no regrets / Because it isn't raining rain, you know, (it's raining violets,) / And where you see clouds upon the hills / You soon will see crowds of daffodils / So keep on looking for a bluebird / And list'ning for his song / Whenever April showers come along... "  ~ Al Jolson / April Showers

What we are reading now...
In Shock:  My Journey from Death to Recovery & the Redemptive Power of Hope
by Dr. Rana Awdish
"Crystalline vision of a new and better possibility... Shatteringly personal, and yet wholly universal, she offers a brave roadmap for anyone navigating illness.  At the same time, she presents physicians with a new paradigm & rationale for embracing the emotional bond between doctor and patient..." "...reads like a page-turning novel..."
"This book is remarkable - should be required reading for EVERY medical caregiver.  In Shock is so beautifully written, so full of wisdom about illness, emotional connection, and ripe with ideas for improving communication with my patients.  I was so moved by the author's courage, resilience and passion to improve medical practice."
~ Jeffrey Millstein, MD

"I love people who make me laugh.  I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh.  It cures a multitude of ills.  It's probably the most important thing in a person."    ~ Aubrey Hepburn
Health Tip Notes with Kim Evans...
Enhance your humor appreciation for the month of April!

In honor of National Humor Month, here are 5 ways to enhance your own humor appreciation!
  1.  Hang out with funny people.  Be intentional this month in surrounding yourself with people who make you laugh (at least smile - you get the same physiologic benefit from smiling as you do from laughing).
  2.  Take time at your dinner table for each person to share the funniest thing that happened to them (or that they heard) that day.   This will help assure that everyone gets their 15-20 minimum laughs per day.
  3.  Intentionally do something fun for yourself at least once a week (daily if possible).
  4.  Keep a huge smile on your face during your entire drive to and from work (or whenever you're driving your car).   This will make you feel good as you go into work or into your home at the end of the workday.  Notice if your day goes any differently than normal.
  5.  Read something funny daily - such as the comics or the "joke of the day."
Here is today's joke to get you started:
Why are frogs always so happy?  They eat whatever bugs them!

"The Indigo Biofeedback System helps manage & retrain stress patterns, empowering you to make lifestyle changes to support overall health & wellbeing."
502.797.6618 / holistictreatment033@gmail.com
This month our Practitioner of the Month is Jerry Scott.  Jerry is a Holistic Care practitioner who uses different modalities tailored to each individual client.  He uses an Indigo biofeedback device which measures different parameters of health and stress.  Being able to tell which organs and glands are showing stress patterns allows him to tailor appropriate remedies to support one's body system.  Here are comments from a couple of Jerry's clients:

      *  Jordan & Jean Schwartz
Jerry Scott is a master at his craft.  After I visit Holistic Care, I feel better, more
vibrant, my days are more colorful and I am ready to take on the world.  If you
are searching for holistic care, look no further.  I have been seeing Jerry for 3
years, and the results for me have been nothing short of remarkable.  My wife,
my family, my friends, and everyone that I share my experience with, go to see
           Jerry.  You should too!

      *  Carmen Marmen
I always feel so much better after leaving Mr. Scott's office.  He is very
professional and knowledgeable.  I would recommend this office to everyone.

If you would like to join Jerry Scott this month for an Indigo Biofeedback session, give him a call, you will be glad you did!    ~ Kim Evans

"I bet you could sometimes find all the mysteries of the universe in someone's hand."

~ Benjamin Alire Saenz
I've Got Your Back ~ April 2018
I've Got Your Back...
This month we are featuring one of Jerry's patients.
"Mark" came to Jerry and told him he had been suffering from chronic fatigue.  He was strong and athletic and was a member of his college football team.  However, due to chronic fatigue, he had to quit the football team and almost every other extra-curricular activity.  He hardly had energy to go to class and eat.  He exhausted every physician in town trying to figure out why he was so exhausted.  After a session on the Indigo Biofeedback, Jerry determined he had frequencies consistent with Epstein Barr, which is a virus in the herpes family.
Jerry gave him remedies for the virus and continued the biofeedback sessions.  In one month, Mark was able to return to the football field!  Way to go Jerry!

The ancient art of Jin Shin Jyutsu here at IIM!
Join Angie Megibben, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner
Jin Shin Jyutsu is the ancient art of balancing the body's energy system, which facilitates healing and restores the body to a more harmonious state of being.
Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners use their hands to gently balance the flow of life energy in the partner's body.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods.  The body contains pathways that feed life energy into all cells and functions.  The stresses of daily life - habits, emotions, illness and physical activity - add up over time.  They can have adverse effects on the natural flow of energy along these pathways, similar to the way stones inhibit the free movement of water in a stream.  When one or more of these pathways becomes blocked, it can lead to general discomfort in the local area or elsewhere in the body, resulting in physical and/or emotional symptoms.  The art of Jin Shin Jyutsu clears the blocks in these energetic pathways, returning them to a more harmonious state.

April is National Humor Month...
"National Humor Month was conceived as a means to heighten public awareness of the therapeutic value of humor.  Laughter and joy - the benchmark of humor - lead to improved well-being, boosted morale, increased communication skills, and an enriched quality of life.
It's no coincidence that the month begins with April Fools Day, a day which has sanctioned frivolity and amusement for hundreds of years.
Humor as a tool to lift ailing spirits is an established notion supported by scientific research.  The curative power of laughter and its ability to relieve debilitating stress and burnout may indeed be one of the greatest medical discoveries of our times..."
