           JANUARY 2016
Start the New Year by creating your optimal health of Mind, Body & Spirit!
Greetings & Notes from KIM EVANS - JANUARY 2016
Happy New Year Everyone!!  Wow! 2016!  Whoo-hoo.  On behalf of everyone at IIM we hope 2016 is one of your best years yet!  May it be filled with lots of love, belly laughs, peaceful hearts, great health, amazing friends and family, good fortune and Divine connection at the center of it all!  Kimberly, Cynthia and I have committed to laughing everyday at the office to create more fun and joy and infuse it into what we're doing.  Our theme this month is New Year - New You!  It's a great time to reflect on patterns in your own life and see what areas you might want to change, improve, tweak or eliminate all together.  See our Health Tip this month by Dr. Pete Buecker and myself to learn just how to do this.

There are many exciting events coming up!
*A new Beginner's Yoga Class for Men will be starting here on Tuesday, January 5th and will be taught by John Malloy, a terrific new teacher joining Light Works Yoga.
*Kimberly May is doing a complimentary Coaching Session on Wednesday, January 6th for those that want to "jump into a life that inspires you" in a powerful way.
*Dr. Pete Buecker's Friday evening Meditations continue during this New Year... consider joining him on Friday, January 8th.  He's also hosting Meditation for Personal Growth, Wednesday, January 13th.
*On Wednesday and Thursday, January 13th and 14th, we'll be hosting the nationally renowned Elijah Nisenboim, founder of the Effiji Breath Technique.  This is a powerful technique to help you awaken to your true Self.  Don't miss this exciting opportunity to enhance your Soul Connection.
*Rev. Yvonne McCoy is hosting two Healing Touch courses:  Saturday, January 16th - Introduction to Healing Ministry & Saturday, January 17th - Introduction to Judeo-Christian Anointing.
*Just in time for winter - Melanie Tinsley is offering a Yamuna class on Saturday, January 23rd for those of us who'd rather stay comfy and cozy under the covers!

Also I'd like to share an important global event that will be happening on January 31, 2016.  Dr. James Twyman, who is known around the world as the Peace Troubadour will be going to a Syrian Village to perform a peace concert.  This area is very near the area held by the Islamic Jihadists.  To create a true shift in consciousness there, James is asking for a massive amount of people to pray and hold the energy of peace while he is there.  Wouldn't you like to be part of a revolution of love and grace in order to create peace all over the world?  Find out more later in this newsletter about how you can be part of James' peace vigil!

New Year - New You!!  We hope 2016 is a prosperous and healthy year for you!

Now Available:  Carotid-IMT
Next Quarterly Opportunity:  Thursday, April 14th

What is C-IMT?
C-IMT or Carotid-Intima Media Thickness assessment is an easy and painless procedure now available to you.  C-IMT is without risk or side effects and is more predictive than any other screening available.  For decades ultrasound has helped physicians "see" developments and problems inside people's bodies.  Combining ultrasound images with recent computer software advancements, we can measure and analyze critical regions inside our blood vessels like never before.  Measuring the C-IMT allows us to take a literal snapshot of a person's vascular health.  This analysis is sophisticated enough to assess your individual risk.  It can detect the early stages of heart disease, even in teenagers.

Now you can take a proactive approach and be screened for cardiovascular abnormalities quickly, conveniently and inexpensively.  If detected early, Cardiovascular disease can be prevented.

Make your health a priority.  $165 includes consult with Kim Evans.  FSA/HSA eligible expenses.  Schedule your visit for Thursday, April 14th!  502.253.4554

Health Tip:  New Year ~ New You!
Welcome to January! -
Wow, it's 2016.  A new year - and a great time to create a new you!  Perhaps you want to shed a few pounds - maybe get a little more exercise - maybe a bit more sleep - maybe you want to create more balance between your work life and home life.  Use the mantra - "In every way and every day, I'm getting better and better!"  As Bruce Lipton, the author of the Biology of Belief states, "the function of the mind is to create a coherence between what we imagine and reality."  I'm here today with my colleague Dr. Peter Buecker, and he's going to share a few tips on how we can do just that.

Dr. Peter Buecker:  "Great. Thank you Kim.  It's a delight to be here.  One thing I like to do with clients who are looking to make a change in their life is simply to do a little visualization around that and I thought we might share that today...  So I would invite you just to close your eyes for a second - take a couple of deep breaths.  To the best of your ability, just let go of any tension you might be holding.  And in that clear space of the mind, just invite an image of yourself as you want to be... maybe your most vital healthy well-functioning, well-feeling self - and just notice what that feels like...  Imagine if you could see yourself - what would you look like?  Maybe you've achieved those things that Kim mentioned about having better balance in life - having lost those pounds, having more energy, sleeping better - and allow yourself the experience of being that version of you and maybe just becoming aware of things that are already present in your life that are supporting the realization of this image, and those things which might be serving as a barrier.  And as your eyes come back open, taking this vision of yourself with you every day as a gage as you're choosing something to eat - or choosing something to do - or deciding who to spend time with - or who to talk with or who to share with - just simply asking yourself:  How is this experience serving the realization of the me that I want to be?  Or how is this maybe serving as a hindrance?  And it really can be that easy."

So if you need help creating mindfulness or help doing these tips, give us a call.  It's a new year - a new you!  Remember "Every day and in every way, you're getting better and better!"

Here's an additional Health Tip!
This month Betty Greaver has an additional Health Tip to share!
How many of you saw the article in the 12/20/2015 issue of the Courier Journal titled "Kentucky Highest in Cancer Deaths"?
Experts quoted in the article say the biggest culprit is lung cancer, but states death rates also rank in the Top 10 nationally for breast, colorectal and cervical cancer.  What a sad report!  Dr. Robert Pendergrast in his book, "Breast Cancer:  Reduce Your Risk With Foods You Love" reports:  "The American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund have jointly published an expert report, most recently updated and modified in 2007, that consistently links dietary choices high in vegetables and fruits with lower cancer risk.  The consensus opinion of the report is that one third of all cancers are preventable by diet."

It's a New Year and time to create a New You!
Begin with small, doable changes such as increasing fruits and vegetables to decrease this horrible statistic.
Feel free to contact me for more information on Nutrition and Healthy Eating classes.

Peter J. Buecker, MD
Meditation, MD - Mindfulness, Meditation, & Stress Relief
Quiet Mind, Calm Body, Peaceful Life

Meet Dr. Peter Buecker...
"A native of Louisville, Kentucky, I am a practicing Orthopedic Surgeon who is most interested in this day and age in what I call whole human healing.
It is estimated that about 70% of ailments that afflict people in our society are related to the effects of chronic stress and other imbalances in the mind-body (or body-mind) connection.  My passion is to aid people in relieving pain, suffering, and other forms of physical, mental, and emotional discomfort in life in effective, authentic, and lasting ways."

"I discovered meditation during a tumultuous time in my own life, and have been fortunate to have studied or been on retreat experiences with many of today's most relevant teachers.  Additionally, I am currently completing a PhD in Mind-Body Medicine.  I have had the pleasure of teaching mindfulness and meditation to a wide range of students, and aided many people suffering from a variety of conditions and symptoms to make profound gains in their conditions and rediscover joy and peace in their lives.  The journey has been nothing short of amazing."

"I am passionate about what I do, and believe that all who are willing to explore self-healing can benefit in tranformative ways.  My style is to distill a wide body of information and experience into a simple and easily applicable set of concepts and practices that anyone can easily assimilate and use.  I am, at heart, a pragmatist.  For me, it's about offering people something they can readily and meaningfuly apply within the context of the lives they are currently living (which is the only place any of it ever really works or makes sense anyway).  I warmly welcome anyone, regardless of experience or knowledge level, to any of my classes or sessions."

 I've Got Your Back ~ January * 2016

This month we are excited to share J.L. Fitzgerald's story!...

"My consultations with IIM practitioners Kim Evans, Jerry Scott, and Dr. Peter Buecker have been life-changing!  Persistent prompting by my dear friend Patrice Joy Masterson of Harmonizing Health Retreat, harkened me to IIM's doorstep.  As a recently retired biologist and first responder, I have experienced life's peaks and valleys from both community and personal perspectives.  I know life is a gift!  A life well lived is the legacy I earnestly desire.  Attaining this life goal however, was becoming a major challenge until I became a patient at IIM-- my cellular self was increasingly screaming at me via muscular and joint pain, gastrointestinal upsets, and nagging headaches along with self-doubt about my future endeavors.  My ultimate smack down occurred while doing stable chores and I was kicked by my beloved filly.  My sense of vulnerableness was overwhelming."

"Traditional medical care was not helping me achieve the quality of life I wanted.  Thus, I confess I approached IIM out of desperation and frustration.  Kim identified my persistent GI episodes as "Leaky Gut" and lab results revealed I have several food sensitivities.  Now, selective organic food is my medicine!  Genotype analysis revealed sugar is my primary toxin!  No more processed food either!  Goodbye brownies, donuts, and Reece's Cups!  Biofeedback results by Jerry Scott confirmed that my endocrine system is out of balance.  Welcome hormones!  YEA!  Mindful meditation taught by Dr. Pete has awakened within me a cellular self-awareness that has promoted healing and self-care while infusing new energy into my every step and thought.  Physical therapy, light therapy, and physical conditioning have complemented my successful recovery on my journey to wellness."

"Returning to my stable duties from a 10 day absence, my filly was repentant and gave me her lovey-dovey greeting which is a soft nuzzle on my heart.  A thoughtful hieroglyphic pronouncement on the stable message board presented me a soulful reminder of the ultimate healing force--love--first as self-love and secondly as shared love.  Thank you Patrice, Kim, Jerry, Pete, Vicki, Jon, Sherri, Debbie, and Ashley.  I am very awake and quite mindful!  "Hello" 2016!"

Thanks to each of you who are joining in our on-going challenge to be able to say "I've Got Your Back..."  If you have a story that you would like to share, please send it to me.  ~ Kim Evans

"I encourage you to step out of your noisy world and onto a yoga mat!"
Meet John Malloy:  "As an executive at one of the leading utilities in the nation, I came to yoga many years ago to escape the busyness and noise of this world to seek a more spiritual and grounded life.  Yoga brings together the mind, body, and spirit, thus a more integrative wellness way of life.  Now in my 50's, yoga continues to be a vital part of my life providing universal healing and elimination of discomfort.  In my yogic years, I have found an inner peace that ultimately led me to becoming a yoga instructor.  As an educator by nature, teaching yoga allows me to pass on this stillness of the mind to those seeking a higher and thus better quality of life.  Through yoga we can all strive to be in this world, but not of this world!  I encourage you to step out of your noisy world and onto a yoga mat! Namaste!"

Jan 13: What's In Your Roots?  Personal readings to gain deeper awareness around your life purpose
With Elijah's 25 years of experience and over 13,000 private sessions, he has been guiding people on the path of self-knowing clearly, kindly and powerfully using his many tools; including reading your life purpose through your fingerprints, bringing in channeled information, and astrology.

Jan 14:
  Effiji Breath
If you know nothing of breath work, GREAT!  This is a fascinating practice that is guaranteed to stimulate your soul.  It is available to anyone who is willing to encounter the deeper hidden parts of themselves.  Within one minute of doing it you will transport to another world within yourself, just as real as the one you're in right now.  A world, however, you were unaware of before you began.  Its sole purpose is no less than to awaken you to your true Self and to re-pattern your body, heart and mind to be in alignment with that Self.

EFFIJI... is the next generation in personal growth... EFFIJI is a comprehensive methodology to have clear self-perception & transformation of body, mind & heart... EFFIJI is for any adult... to experience, first-hand, the power & beauty of their soul & how to live their life based on this knowing."
For more information on this work, please visit:

ELIJAH NISENBOIM   Elijah was living and innovating in San Francisco in the 90's when the New Age was being conceived.  He was there, at the beginning of the spiritual movement.  He not only was a part of the movement, he has maintained his commitment to personal work on himself and those in his community.  Now... he's moved away from the narrow threshold of the New Age and has moved into the more dynamic and real work with people.

Elijah has done over 13,000 private sessions, he's written a book What's In Your Roots? Making the Unconscious Conscious, he's created over 23 albums of original music, and honed his experience of many different spiritual modalities into his own philosophies and brand of teaching.  All of this has culminated in EFFIJI.

In addition to his own innovative work, Elijah has studied under some of the world's most profound spiritual and creative teachers.  For seventeen years, he trained with Tai Chi Master George Xu and lived with him for one year.  Master Xu taught him the cultivation and use of Chi.  Elijah is also a devoted student of world-renowned musician and composer Terry Riley, from whom he has learned the complex system of Indian classical music (Raga).

Jan 16:  Introduction to Healing Ministry
(HTSM 101) This one day course details the history of healing in Christianity with the opportunity to experience the laying-on of hands.  It presents related scriptures for healing work; history of healing in the Judeo-Christian path; role of centering and intention in healing work for centering and connecting to God.
Jan 17:   Introduction to Judeo-Christian Anointing (HTSM 102)  This one day course incorporates related Biblical scriptures for the use of essential oils for healing and wholeness; Christian rituals and traditions of anointing through history; how essential oils are healing for body/mind/soul; principles and practice of the laying on of hands with anointing and blessing of the senses.

What is the Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry Program?  The Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry program is an energy based therapeutic approach to health and healing built upon a Christian philosophy of caring. It integrates prayer, hands-on (energetic) healing and anointing with healing oils.  We offer a program that is multi-level based in the Judeo-Christian scriptures.  Students may apply for a national certification at the completion of all of the coursework.  Designed within the nursing profession, Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry has a spiritual focus that uses touch to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health and healing.  The program is open to everyone.  Who can benefit in taking a class?  Registered nurses in parish nursing, ministers in parish and pastoral ministries, chaplains and nurses in hospitals, nursing homes and hospices, massage therapists, counselors, and the lay community seeking to explore a healing ministry involving the laying on of hands. Advanced Integrative Therapy ~ Certified Therapist & Teacher
a 3-Day Seminar for Graduate Level Mental Health Clinicians and Graduate Students who are currently in a supervised clinical placement
This 3-Day Seminar is a prerequisite for all other AIT Seminars.   AIT BASICS provides everything you need to know to begin using AIT in your practice immediately.  Call Cynthia with questions, or for more information.

Advanced Integrative Therapy or AIT, is a dynamic and new in-depth energy psychology that begins from the premise that ALL upsetting events are traumas and are lodged within the body, mind and spirit.  Talking gives us insight into our issues, but often does too little to remove them.  AIT removes the energy within us that is made up of our particular responses to the incidents and patterns that hurt or upset us throughout our lives.  The healing is gentle, effective and complete... promoting psychological, physical and spiritual healing by treating not just the symptoms, but the originating causes of present day difficulties that fracture human wholeness.

AIT integrates the best established and proven psychotherapies, and then adds a new energy psychology element that is body-based. This simply and gently addresses and clears those aspects of the issue in the body, mind, and spirit.  In this way, the issue gets completely resolved!

Incorporate AIT into your therapeutic practice!

James Twyman to Share Peace Prayers with
President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad
January 31st, 2016

"What began as a mission to unite millions of people in prayer has transformed into an amazing opportunity for peace.  Plans are currently underway for James Twyman to travel to Damascus to sing the Muslim Prayer of Peace to none other than Bashar al-Assad, the embattled President of Syria."

"This trip is reminiscent of one The Peace Troubadour made in 1998 when he was invited to perform the Peace Concert in Baghdad for Saddam Hussein at the same time the US and its allies were preparing to bomb Iraq.  At that time an email went out that invited people to send their affirmative prayers of peace to the situation and millions of people responded.  There didn't seem to be any possibility of avoiding a terrible conflict.  In fact, at the same time the prayer vigil was planned President Clinton had given the signal for the bombing to begin.  To this day no one knows exactly what happened, but on that night two stand-down orders were given, calling the fighter jets back to their ships."

"Is it possible that in the face of such a focused prayer effort, it was impossible for violence to prevail?"

"We will continue to share the information as it develops, but for now only one thing is important - We need you and millions of other people to join us in this effort.  James is putting everything on the line, and you can join him energetically while he is there."

What is Integrative Medicine?  Integrative Medicine is a relatively new field of Medicine.  The University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine defines it as "healing-oriented medicine that takes into account the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle.  It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative."  Our approach is leading edge; it makes use of every available tool to set you on the path for optimal health.

Our Philosopy:  The practitioners of 205 Townepark Circle believe in helping people to achieve optimal health in mind, body, and spirit.  Our philosopy is to treat the whole person and to help and support you through many facets of your health and wellbeing.
As Hippocrates said:  "It is much more important to know what sort of a patient has a disease than what sort of a disease a patient has".
