Spring Into Action!

Greetings & Notes from KIM EVANS - MAY * 2017!
Welcome to May!  Spring is such a beautiful and fun time to be in the 'Ville!  So many exciting things happening this month.  Derby time is a favorite time of year for many!  If you attend the Pegasus Parade, you just might see me.  One of our IIM friends who is a plumber, has built a giant toilet - complete with the sound of a toilet flushing.  It's the perfect prop to follow behind the horses in the parade as we do the pooper-scooper duty.  It should provide a lot of laughs for the parade spectators!

If you need a Derby hat, you can get THE BEST at Derby Designs by Michelle.  Check out her facebook page at Derby-Designs-By-Michelle

Good luck with your Derby picks!  If you're attending a Derby party, think about taking the black bean salsa.  This is a crowd favorite and is a healthy appetizer that everyone can enjoy!  (I've included the recipe later in this newsletter!)

This month is also National Nurses Week - May 6-12th.  We have a gift for all you nurses!  (Little soaps with yellow ducks wearing a nurse's cap, heart or stethoscope - they are so cute!)  These were provided by the Kids Cancer Alliance - Find out more about this great organization under the "I've Got Your Back" section of this newsletter.  All you nurses - come to the office and pick up your gift today in honor of National Nurses Week.  You can also get a $10-off coupon for your next visit to the Salt Cave.  This is a wonderful way to relax and rejuvenate.  Treat yourself for all that you do!

Our theme this month is " Spring Into Action!"  It's a great time to restart, revamp or move your exercise program outdoors!  I love doing my workout and my yoga practice outdoors!  We also enjoy tennis and walks through the neighborhood.

Angie Megibben is our Practitioner of the Month.  We are so proud of Angie.  Not only is she a fabulous Yoga teacher, but she's also now certified in Jin Shin Jyutsu.  And currently she's in school to become a licensed massage therapist.  We are so proud of all her accomplishments.  Many are benefitting from her healing gifts.

Enjoy your Derby!  And Spring into Action!

Kim Evans

it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity."

Health Tip:

Welcome to May! Our theme this month is "Spring into Action!"
Let's look at Springing into Action from a Body, Mind and Spirit perspective.

Kim Evans:
Body ~ Spring into action!  Create or revamp your exercise!  With warmer temperatures, move your exercise regimen outdoors!  You may walk, jog, bike, or play tennis.  These are all great ways to Spring into Action and rev up your exercise program.  If there was a pill that had as many benefits to your body, mind and Spirit as exercise, it would be the biggest selling drug on the market!

~ Movement is a great way to help your mind too.  Exercise increases the endorphins which are the "feel good" neurotransmitters.  What a great benefit.  Exercise is good for your body and your mind!

Spirit ~ Spiritually when you Spring into Action and take care of your body with exercise and movement, you are honoring God by caring for the "temple of you" that God created.

Spring into Action! for your body, mind and Spirit.

We have several practitioners who can help you with your exercise and movement goals - Angie Megibben our Yoga teacher, Melanie TInsley, the Yamuna Bodyrolling practitioner and Dorothy Henning, the Feldenkrais practitioner.  So if you need help "Springing into Action," give us a call.

I've Got Your Back ~ May * 2017

This month I'd like to highlight one of my colleagues, Dr. Tracy Barnes, who has practiced chiropractics in Louisville for over 23 years.  Her chiropractic skills are legendary!  These skills, however, pale in comparison to her generous Spirit.  Dr. Barnes is certified in the use of Kinesiology Tape.  She was so impressed with the results that she became a certified instructor and now teaches many health care providers how to apply the tape and how to optimally use it for many neuromuscular and pain issues.  She will be teaching a class later this fall if you are interested in learning about kinesiology taping.  Watch future newsletters for details.

Dr. Barnes also volunteers countless hours to the Kids Cancer Alliance.  This organization provides summer camps for kids with cancer, their siblings and their family members.  She has moved me to tears with stories about these heroic kids and their journeys with cancer.  If you would like to find out more about the Kids Cancer Alliance, check out their website at:

Thanks again to Dr. Tracy for having "so many of our backs" (literally) by improving spinal health, decreasing people's pain, teaching others in the use of the kinesiology tape and spreading love and light to kids (and their families) with cancer.  Dr. Barnes - You are a blessing to many!

~ Kim Evans
Thanks to each of you who are joining in our on-going challenge to be able to say "I've Got Your Back..."  If you have a story that you would like to share, please send it to me.  ~ Kim Evans

"Do you want to know who you are?  Don't ask.  Act!
Action will delineate and define you."

Havening is a break-through method which alters the brain landscape to permanently remove the negative effects of trauma, stress and stuck emotions.

This simple process uses the power of touch, attention and imagination to heal emotional (and often, physical) pain that has seemed unresolvable.

Ask Kimberly May, Wellness Coaching Specialist for a session to try Havening to help you:
                   * Move forward in life   * Dissolve toxic stress   * Boost positivity and resilience
                                                * Create a life of fulfillment and freedom

"The Havening Techniques are methods which are designed to change the brain to de-traumatize the memory and permanently remove its negative effects from both our psyche and body." ~ Ronald A. Ruden, M.D., Ph.D
