Fields of colourful sunflowers bloom at Kimura Farm in Aomori Prefecture in the summertime, typically around August.

Hi ,

The last month of summer sees colourful flower fields brightening up parks, gardens and farms across the country. It is also usually a time filled with mesmerising fireworks displays, lively festivals and fun in the water.

It’s still unclear when we can start to welcome independent travellers but Japan continues to gradually relax restrictions, with further relaxation expected to follow. Read about the latest updates on our COVID-19 Health & Safety Information page. In the meantime, we will continue to bring you travel inspiration and updates and look forward to welcoming you to Japan when the time is right.

This month’s newsletter highlights include ideas for how to enjoy the oft-overlooked summer months in Japan, a spotlight on a post town that retains an Edo Period atmosphere and a look at an apartment hotel with Pokémon-themed rooms.
