It’s easy to see why Kintaikyo Bridge in Yamaguchi Prefecture has attracted artists such as Hokusai and continues to delight visitors. It’s a beautiful place to visit any time of year but is truly magical around April when surrounded by delicate pink sakura blooms.

Hi ,

Spring is an exciting time in Japan, bringing with it the promise of warmer weather, new beginnings and the much-anticipated cherry blossoms, known as sakura in Japanese.

Although the sakura only bloom briefly in each area, the overall season is relatively long. They typically start blossoming from around mid to late March in warmer areas (as early as February for some early-blooming varieties) and finishing as late as May in Hokkaido.

This month’s newsletter is loaded with inspiration for everyone. From a round-up of 9 places to see sakura, including some hidden gems you have likely not heard of before, to family-friendly attractions, ideas for motorsports enthusiasts, fans of traditional craft and a guide to the vibrant city of Osaka.
