Celebrating 150 years of train travel in Japan

Japan’s first train service occurred on 14 October 1872, linking Shimbashi with Yokohama. It’s now one of the most popular ways to explore the country, with numerous discount passes available. Tokyo Station Gallery is holding a special exhibition through 9 January 2023 to commemorate this milestone, with artworks ranging from historical scrolls and woodblock prints to contemporary art and photographs.
