The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival in Kishiwada, Osaka excites attendees with it's grand display of danjiri (wooden floats) that are transported through the streets at a swift speed and sharply turning around narrow corners. Standing on top of the danjiri, a man shouts and excitedly bounces back and fourth. This event is typically held in mid-September.

Hi ,

As summer eases into autumn, crowds ease up with many Japanese people returning to work after their summer holidays. While temperatures still remain considerably hot in Japan in September, areas such as Hokkaido see cooler temperatures with the leaves beginning to change to hues of reds, oranges and yellow. The weather in Japan is good on the whole, however it can be unpredictable with the peak of typhoon season from late August to early September, so it is ideal to leave flexibility in your itinerary.

This month’s newsletter includes the 27th Japanese Film Festival (JFF), guide to Japan in September and the Kobe Marathon. Read on to find out more.

With the beginning of September comes the end of summer and the fireworks festivals that come with it. However, September also marks the beginning of autumn, and its own series of unique festivals and events, such as the Owara Kaze no Bon Festival in Toyama City.

As Japan transitions into autumn, the summer heat and humidity dwindle and temperatures start to cool down, bringing bold autumn colours and seasonal flowers. Weather becomes perfect to go on a stroll and enjoy the vivid and bright foliage.
