Although we just sent out our August Travel Trade Newsletter on Wednesday, there has already been an update on Japan's border entry guidelines, so this is a quick email to advise you of the latest changes.
Border update
On 31 August, Prime Minister Kishida announced the next changes to Japan’s border entry guidelines. Here is a summary including the announcement from last week.
From 7 September 2022:
1. Triple vaccinated travellers entering Japan from 'blue' countries (including Australia and New Zealand) will no longer be required to take a pre-departure PCR test.
2. The daily entry caps will be raised from the current 20,000 pax per day to 50,000.
3. [new] NON-GUIDED package tours from all countries/regions will be allowed to enter. Travellers are still required to get a visa in advance, for which an ERFS certificate issued by a receiving organisation in Japan is still required.
We do not have further information yet on what constitutes a 'package tour'. If we get any further clarity on this we will send another update, but the above is all the information we have at this time.
Please stay tuned as we will continue to keep you updated with the latest news.
