Tips to increase registrations

A message from KRM's President and CEO, Rick Olson

One of our most frequently asked questions remains, “How do I increase registrations to my events?” We hear this question so often that we think it’s important to revisit and share reminders and tips about what it takes to get people to your events.

WIIFM – What’s in it for me?

You know the most important part of your marketing copy is content, content, content. Make sure you grab your audiences’ attention quickly, with strong headlines.

  • What people will learn
  • Who should attend
  • Why they should listen to your presenters
  • What will they miss if they don’t attend, etc.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: promote early and often!

Allow people enough time to pencil your event on their calendars. Then, promote again close to the event to remind them to make the purchase commitment. And, because registrations are coming in closer to the event date than ever before, don't forget to keep promoting up to the day of your event to optimize your opportunity to increase registrations.

Example promotional schedule

  • Start promoting 4 weeks out (from the date of your events)
  • Promote at least once a week 3 weeks out and 2 weeks out (blast emails, newsletters, flyers, direct mail, social media, etc.)
  • Promote 3 days out to keep your events “top of mind” for your audience and prompt them to register … before they miss out on the opportunity to do so.
  • Send a day before reminder to register, which is very important given the most recent statistics. If you’re not telling people to register during the timeframe they’re most likely to do so, you’re missing out on potential revenue!

Kind regards,
Rick

Meet "Cush" ...
I have the unique KRMite position of not only moderating your live events, but also working my magic in the engineering department. This adds a great deal of variety to my daily routine — from moderating a live event to training your speakers during orientation calls, to engineering live events and producing recordings in our studios.

I really enjoy the interaction I experience with you and your speakers. It’s always fun to get to know a little more about clients and speakers — in different areas of the country and the world!

Step up to the Mike

I have a broadcasting background and worked in radio for 22 years before becoming a full-time KRMite. I guess this makes me the ideal KRMite to voice your “infomercials,” which are aired during the pre-conference countdown of your events.

I am married to Lisa, and we have 1 son, Ryan, who just turned 13.  The rest of my family includes, Molly, our chocolate lab and Hunter, our cat, who as the name implies, is a pretty good mouse catcher.

We built a house a few years ago on a great wooded lot just outside of Eau Claire. We really enjoy the wildlife, bonfires in our backyard and gazing up into a star-filled sky. It’s the perfect way to relax.
