The value of KRM Moderators
"KRM's moderators are an enormous asset to Vantage's virtual seminars," says Chrissy Batterson, Marketing Associate of Vantage Partners. "Their professionalism, flexibility and ability to engage with the audience significantly increases the impact our presenters have on our audiences and enhances the value of conducting a webinar. They are a pleasure to work with, knowledgeable about the products and functionality, and help us focus on one thing: presenting."

Keeping Your Audience Engaged A message from KRM's President and CEO, Rick Olson
One of the most effective ways to get repeat registrants and/or recording purchasers for your virtual events is to create optimal learning environments for all of your webinars. Make sure your audience members get their "money's worth" every time. In today's tough economy, your audience is closely examining how they spend their time and money. It's vitally important to develop purposeful content that meets your audience's level of experience and educational needs. "Active engagement is critical to learning retention and transfer regardless of the medium," says Kathleen Edwards, CAE, president of CompassPoints, a consultancy specializing in effective learning environments and strategies. "It's also key to participant satisfaction. When participants get what they need, they come back for more and recommend your programs to others."
Create expectations of your speakers to use interactive web conferencing software for your audiences' advantage:
- coach them on how to use polling and other audience participation features
- guide them to understand the differences in speaking virtually versus from face-to-face
- encourage them to provide engaging handouts with worksheets and checklists
Finally Edwards recommends, "To enhance learning, ensure speakers leave participants with specific questions to consider and action steps they can take to immediately to begin applying what they've learned."
Carefully monitoring your content and creating a specific user experience for every event will create a valuable learning environment and will encourage repeat registrants.
Warm regards,
Rick

Services Showcase: Professinal Moderators
KRM professional moderators are available to help you plan your virtual events and help ease your mind (and your speakers) for "show time." Before Your Events KRM Moderators conduct orientation calls with you and your speakers, during which the moderator helps you develop the choreography for your events. You'll discuss who'll speak when, how you will engage your audience and also create appropriate opportunities for audience interaction. Moderators help your speakers learn how to use the web conferencing software. Speakers will learn to conduct polling questions, Q&A, use the whiteboard, web-page sharing and application sharing - whatever works best to deliver your message in the most advantageous format. During Your Events Moderators serve as on-air hosts for your webinars:
- host the private, pre-event, green-room conversation
- review last minute details
- answer questions
- make introductions at the beginning of events
- assist with Q&A and polling
- advance slides on the web if needed
After Your Events At the end of your events, KRM Moderators remind your audience to complete an evaluation (if you have one) or relay other important messages. They also host the post-event private conversation with you and your speakers to review the event and discuss how it went. KRM Moderators are highly skilled and well trained on-air talent. They are focused on your speakers and your event. They aren't filling dual roles as your account manager or your registrant support person. They are there for you and your speakers during orientation calls and during your live events. Call Ann, Chris, Janette or Wayne at 800.816.2640 to brainstorm ways to enhance your audience's learning experience and to help put your speakers at ease in the virtual environment.

KRMite Spotlight ... on Kurt Majkowski Fun Quick Facts
Team Role: Moderator Process Leader Years with our team: 8 Hobbies/Interests: Cooking, exploring other cultures through food and drink, enjoying outdoor activities (especially winter sports like Alpine and Nordic skiing; you have to find ways to enjoy our cold seasons!), biking, geocaching, sailing, fun in the sun, writing and doing creative things, celebrating the arts in any way I can and keeping my mind active by learning and growing. Phone: 800.816.2640 ext. 640 Email: kmajkowski@krm.com Meet Kurt . . .
It's been a road with many paths that has brought me to my position at KRM. And the longer I'm here, the more I see how those paths help me every day.
My college degree is in music education (French Horn in case you're interested). Along with a short stint at teaching, I've owned my own business providing real estate valuation services as well as computer consulting. I also served as the technical director of a regional arts center, executive director of a community theatre and a volunteer coordinator of our local free clinic.
How does this all fit into the role of Moderator? Considering many of our clients are nonprofits, my past as both an employee and manager of one provides valuable background and awareness of the special environment of the not-for-profit world. But most of all, my background as an educator provides me with both knowledge and skills to help train clients and presenters in the inner workings of producing a successful event at KRM.
What makes me smile?
- Hearing the "Ahaa!" moment in a speaker's voice as we explore the options available to them in their presentation.
- Being challenged by a speaker or client to do something creative or out of the ordinary to meet their needs.
- Helping a nervous or reluctant speaker find his or her footing on a first webinar.
- Working with my fellow KRMites (That's what we call ourselves!) to find new and better ways to deliver "Best in the World" services to you.
But what makes me smile most of all is reaching the point in your event when I get to say "You may disconnect now" and knowing that my efforts and the efforts of the entire KRM team have made your event a glowing success!
