Boat Wash Station at Long Last at Long Lake

 

As a frontline defense against the rampant spread of aquatic invasive species, the Kalamazoo County Drain Commissioner’s office and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources recently installed a boat wash station sign and equipment at Long Lake Boating Access Site, now available to the public. 


The spread of invasive/exotic species poses an immense challenge, both in Michigan and across the United States, with aquatic species proving particularly formidable to manage. However, by diligently cleaning your boats prior to entering and after exiting any water body, you play an indispensable role in curbing the spread of these costly intruders right in our own backyard.

Kalamazoo County Youth Fair & Family Festival Offering Open Class Still Exhibit Entries for 2023

 

The Kalamazoo County Youth Fair & Family Festival is offering open class still exhibit entries for 2023. The public can enter everything from hand-drawn pictures to photography and even plants. Interested participants can find complete details and sign-up forms on the Kalamazoo County Fair website.

 

The Kalamazoo County Youth Fair & Family Festival, held at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center & Fairground located at 2900 Lake St., is open Tuesday through Saturday, Aug. 8-12. Admission is $5 per vehicle Tuesday through Friday and $15 on Saturday.

Social Worker I or II
SW-I: K108 (A) $26.12/hour
SW-II: K109 (A) $29.25/hour
 
Provides a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of the needs of the older adult population to maintain quality of life while aging in the community. Develops care services and research opportunities for community resources, and serves as a liaison between clients and caregivers, etc.  
 
Financial Specialist
K106 (A) $20.82/hour
 
Provides accounting support and coordination to County departments. Receives and records checks, creates receipts, and prepares checks for deposit. Manages County financial records, and supports account receivable/payable records and processes.
 
 
Legal Assistant
K106n $20.82/hour
 
Coordinates and maintains all case files handled by the Prosecuting Attorney's office. Processes court orders, maintains and updates legal cases, and stores in multiple databases. Coordinates the scheduling of all court events, reviewing and updating court docket schedules. Verifies sentencing information from court logs received by the courts and records the legal information. 
 
Manager - Park Service
K109 (A) $29.25/hour
 
Oversees the operations, scheduling, and staffing of park facilities, including 3 swimming beaches, 20 soccer field complex, group picnic areas, campgrounds, 2 dog parks, a wide variety of special park events, a historic mill, and over 1500 acres of public recreation park land.
 
 
Grants Analyst
K107 (A-I) $48,502.02-66,378.54
 
Performs accounting functions for the County by examining accounting documents, preparing journal entries, and resolving account discrepancies.  Maintains accurate financial records by monitoring, reviewing, and completing monthly reconciliations on assigned accounts. Completes the annual budget allocations for funds, managing, and monitoring the funds for budget variances.
