TCF AWARDED CERTIFICATE OF MERIT AT WORLD CSR DAY

On the occasion of World CSR Day, The Corbett Foundation receives a "Certificate of Merit" during the World CSR Congress held in Mumbai on 18 February 2016. We take this opportunity to thank the organizers of this event and all our corporate partners, who have supported us in the past and continue supporting our grassroots conservation and sustainable development projects.

TIGER TEMPLE TAKEDOWN

TCF has joined Sanctuary Asia in a campaign against Thailand's major tourist attraction, the infamous 'Tiger Temple' - it holds atleast 147 tigers captive and is a cover for the confinement, neglect and abuse of its tigers, while also secretly feeding the international illegal tiger trade market. Thousands of tourists unwittingly contribute to these horrors every year. Tiger Temple has now applied for a zoo license that will sanction the housing of atleast 500 tigers!! The hashtag #TigerTempleTakedown persuades past tourists to remove photographs clicked at Tiger Temple from social media, disuades potential tourists from visiting this "attraction" and is an effort  to ultimately shut down this venture. Details of the campaign here

TCF IN THE BANDHAVGARH - SANJAY DUBRI CORRIDOR
TCF has begun conservation and sustainable lifestyle-improvement initiatives for rural communities in the crucial Bandhavgarh - Sanjay Dubri corridor. Construction of smokeless-stoves is one such project, wherein inhalation by women of harmful smoke from the stove is reduced by a chimney that expels the smoke from the kitchen, maintaining the health of rural women who spend long hours cooking. Healthy communities contribute better to conservation.
SOLAR-LIGHT DISTRIBUTION IN KANHA

TCF-Kanha distributed solar lights to the villagers of Bhursatola in the Garhi Range of Kanha Tiger Reserve, Tingatola and Chhipitola, through a generous donation by Mr. Goculdas. A joint medical and awareness programme was also conducted. These villages, primarily inhabited by the Baiga tribe, are not connected to grid electricity. These solar lights will bring several benefits to such villages and improve their standard of living. Many such villages in interior forested areas still remain disconnected from basic amenities. The Corbett Foundation greatly appreciates support from individual and corporate donors to this end.

DEWORMING DAY & AWARENESS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN AT BANDHAVGARH

TCF-Bandhavgarh medical unit organized an awareness programme on International De-worming Day at Guruwahi Middle School. With the participation of teachers and students, the team explained, briefly, the etiology of worm infection, symptoms exhibited by an infected patient and preventive measures against infection. The team also distributed deworming medicine to the students

WORLD WETLANDS DAY 2016
The Corbett Foundation celebrated World Wetlands Day on February 2nd, with 'Sustainable Livelihoods' as the theme for 2016, across its divisions with awareness programmes for school children. Visits to nearby wetlands, classroom sessions and talks highlighted the importance of wetlands as an ecosystem and the necessity for sustainable development for their long term conservation.
