WEAVING CENTRE AND HIGHLAND FOR VILLAGERS IN KAZIRANGA
On the festival of Holi, TCF presented villagers of Japoripathar village in Kaziranga with a weaving centre and highland, inaugurated by Mr. Dilip Khatau, Chairman, The Corbett Foundation. Residents of this village, annually affected severely by floods during monsoon in Kaziranga can use this weaving centre equipped with wooden handlooms as a shelter, where weaving livelihood can continue without disruption due to flooding. The highland will provide refuge to domestic cattle and animals belonging to the villagers, protecting them from the destructive floods. TCF  appreciates  the support of these forest-dwelling communities in its conservation efforts.
SATPUDA LANDSCAPE TIGER PROGRAMME 11TH ANNUAL MEET
TCF Kanha and Bandhavgarh attended the 11th annual meet of the Satpuda Landscape Tiger Programme (SLTP) from March 5th to 7th, 2016 at Panna Tiger Reserve. The topic of discussion for this meet was the impact of linear projects on wildlife corridors in the central Indian landscape. Formed by Born Free Foundation and the Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU), SLTP is a network of NGOs working in the central Indian landscape for the conservation of the tigers and for bringing about sustainable development in communities that share their habitat with tigers. TCF has been an SLTP partner since 2014.
WORLD FORESTRY DAY AND WATER DAY

TCF commemorated the importance of Forests and Water on World Forestry Day and World Water Day on March 21st and 22nd respectively. At Kaziranga, communities were engaged in public talks and a tree plantation campaign. Saplings of indigenous plant species were distributed, with teachers from International Cambridge School, Guwahati volunteering. To raise awareness on conserving the Kosi river TCF-Corbett and local residents Marched 12 km from Ramnagar to Garjiya displaying banners and slogans.

SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS - FOOD PROCESSING

TCF-Corbett proudly awards the first batch of PUKAAR food-processing trainees with certificates of completion. Local women from Gebuwa village in Ramnagar, Nainital have been learning to process  vegetables and fruits through pickling mango, red chillies, mixed vegetables, jackfruit and also candying amla. TCF will facilitate the women in forming Self-help Groups and managing small businesses through the sale of these food products under the brand 'Prakriti'. Engaging forest-dwelling communities in alternative sustainable livelihoods will divert their dependence from forest-based livelihoods for survival, contributing considerably to conservation of improtant wild habitat.

Villagers are also presented with good breed cattle, on the condition that they will not graze their cattle in protected forest areas.
