Candidate Corner Steve Hellin for O'Fallon District 90 School Board
Steve is a husband, father, homeowner, LP-Illinois communications director, and a worldwide sales leader for a top information technology company. He is running for school board because he wants to help to provide quality education in O'Fallon while also working to minimize the property tax burden on local homeowners.
Steve recognizes that Illinois' miserable financial situation makes school funding precarious and unpredictable. "Unfortunately" says Steve, "the recent 66% income tax hike will do little to help us, as Springfield sucks more money from our local community only to send further north to fund gold plated public employee pensions in Chicago suburbs." As a Libertarian, Steve will promote transparency and accountability while seeking support from local nonprofit organizations.
Please visit Steve's campaign facebook page and www.stevehellin.com to find out how you can help!

Is Liberty Worth a Cup of Coffee?
|
How often do you stop by your favorite coffee house or local mini-mart and pick up a cup of coffee? Every day?
If you purchase a plain old Cup of Joe, it might cost you $1.25? Right? If it's a special blend, it could cost you as much as $5, correct?
Imagine purchasing just one less cup of coffee a week ... and instead of spending that money on coffee, you donate the money for that 1 cup of coffee you didn't drink to the Libertarian Party of Illinois.
Now think of those dollars over a month's time.
$1.25 per cup x 4 weeks = $5.00 which could make you a $5 Monthly Pledger with ease!
$5.00 per cup x 4 weeks = $20.00 which could make you a $20 Monthly Pledger with ease!
Now skip the biscotti once a week and -- BAM -- you're a $25 Monthly Pledger no problem!
So folks, ask yourselves honestly, "Is Liberty worth a cup of coffee to you?"
The answer should be easy ... just substitute that cup of coffee for liberty once a week and become a Monthly Pledger to the Libertarian Party of Illinois TODAY! |

Convention News
The Libertarian Party of Illinois 2011 Convention will be held at The Chateau Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Illinois, the weekend of October 21st -23rd. Please plan to attend!
Ivan Eland: Keynote Speaker
The convention committee, headed by Jan Stover, has succeeded in booking Ivan Eland as this year's keynote speaker. The presentation, focusing on his award winning book, Recarving Rushmore: Ranking the Presidents on Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty, will take place Saturday evening, October 22nd.
“In the intriguing book, Recarving Rushmore, Ivan Eland reassesses the record of all U.S. Presidents based on the constitutional principles that each swore to uphold. While conventional accounts glorify the flagrant misdeeds of the ‘Imperial Presidency,’ this insightful and crucial book provides an inspiring vision for both conservatives and liberals on the crucial need to rein in White House power and restore peace, prosperity and liberty.” —Ron Paul, U.S. Congressman
Steven Burgaur: Lunch Speaker
The committee is also pleased to announce that Steven Burgaur, 2002 Libertarian Senatorial Candidate and libertarian-themed sci-fi author, will speak at Saturday's Luncheon.
