Illinois Libertarians Lex Green and Mike Labno to Participate in First True Debate of Election Season
Lex Green, Libertarian Party candidate for governor of Illinois, and Mike Labno, Libertarian candidate for US Senate, are ready to debate all candidates on the ballot at Northern Illinois University this coming Thursday. Each candidate has been invited to this latest event, and if they all participate, it will be the only true debate of the election season.
The Free and Equal Election Foundation in partnership with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will host the back-to-back debates on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The debate will take place in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium in Holmes Student Center. U.S.Senate candidates will be heard first from 6 – 7:30 p.m. CDT, followed by the gubernatorial debate from 8 - 9:30 p.m “I look forward to the opportunity to challenge both candidates of the two party system that has driven the state of Illinois into bankruptcy with their high spend--high tax policies. I am the only candidate for Governor with a viable plan to balance the budget and restore jobs and economic prosperity to Illinois,” stated Lex Green, Libertarian candidate for Governor. “The established party’s two candidates for Senate have made Illinois once again a laughing stock for the nation,” chided Libertarian Party candidate for US Senate, Mike Labno. “Mark Kirk is a Republican In Name Only whose positions on the issues changes more often than the foul breezes that flow from the political forces of the Windy City. And the questionable banking policies of the Democratic candidate render him unfit for public office. I am the only candidate in the race that is 100% pro–life, pro gun and pro US Constitution.”
So far, Kirk and Giannoulias have sub-par attendance records at debates. Both missed last night's V103 debate in Chicago and two NAACP debated earlier this month. “Libertarians await in eager anticipation to see whether or not the establishment party candidates have the guts to enter a real debate, confronted with real ideas and real fairness,” said Ken Prazak, Public Relations Director for the Libertarian Party of Illinois.
Many Libertarians are convinced that if given an equal opportunity to discuss the issues with the other candidates, Illinois residents will conclude that the time for the peaceful Libertarian Revolution for truly limited government, minimal taxation, and maximum individual freedom has come and will elect libertarian candidates here in Illinois.
The birth of the Tea Party movement started here in Illinois with libertarian activists and could come to political fruition with Illinois finally taken back from the brink of bankruptcy, and to the prosperity of a libertarian future.
