5 Ways To Help Our Candidates

1. Call Talk Radio

2. Organize an Event

3. Post on facebook

4. Write a Letter to the Editor

5. Contact the Candidates

3. "Donate" Your Facebook Status

Post a message every day about one of the Libertarian candidates.  It's a really easy way to reach out to friends and family who might not be informed about the election.  They're also likely to trust your recommendation. One recent post said, "In case you haven't heard, Julie Fox is the only accountant running for Illinois Comptroller. Why would you vote for anyone else? www.foxforcomptroller.com ."
It drummed up quite a bit of interest.

5. Volunteer On A Campaign

Let's work together to make Election 2010 a big victory for Liberty!
With only 25 days left until the election, here are five great ways YOU can promote and support our candidates! Here are five ideas to help you get started...
1. Call A Talk Radio Show
Politically-minded folks are a big part of the audience. Inform the listening audience that you want to talk about Libertarian candidates, and that electing electing Libertarians is the only way to steer our state/nation away from the bi-partisan road to disaster that we are on. The more often you can get the word "Libertarian" or the names of our candidates into the discussion, the better. There are more tips for calling talk radio on LP.org .
2. Organize an Event
Truly ambitious supporters may want to follow the lead of Ron Kruger, who hosted a fundraiser for the Lex Green for Governor campaign at the Olde Tyme Steakhaus in Olney on September 23rd. Both Lex and Ed Rutledge, our candidate for Lt. Governor, savored the opportunity to meet voters and share solutions for our ailing state.
The event gained front-page coverage in the next day's newspaper--you can't beat free publicity like that! Quite a favorable story too - Libertarian focuses on budget

If you would like to host a lunch, tea, dinner, drinks, or other fundraiser for our candidates, act fast to get on their rapidly filling calendars.
4. Write a Letter to the Editor
It is helpful to comment on something that was recently published. You can also say who you are voting for and why, for example: "I am voting for Lex Green for Governor. Lex is the only candidate with a plan to restore our state to fiscal solvency. For less government and more freedom, vote Libertarian!" If you see a story that ignores or marginalizes our candidates, fight back by writing back.

The following two articles were published within the past two weeks:

Bill Brady and Pat Quinn aren’t the answer to our problems. The “two-party system” got us here.

Voters should treat elections as they are intended — an opportunity to elect ethical, honest, hardworking citizens who do what is best for their constituents. Most people today practice “defensive” voting. They vote so that someone else does not win.

We argue issues outside the scope of government, yet do not discuss resolutions to our state’s real issues. We are saddled with career politicians more concerned with keeping their parties in power than in doing what is best for citizens, yet we keep electing them.

Wake up people! There is value in honesty, ethics, transparency and integrity. If everyone voted intelligently, we’d have real leadership. Vote for great candidates this November, such as Libertarian Lex Green for governor.

As has been said on “Saturday Night Live”: Vote and the choice is yours. Don’t vote and the choice is theirs.

With elections just around the corner, voters are looking to candidate debates for help in their decision-making process.  Unfortunately, some organizers are snubbing third party candidates, depriving viewers of a fair and thorough debate.  Both the League of Women Voters and Meet the Press have excluded Libertarian Senatorial Candidate Mike Labno from their upcoming events.  Illinois has some of the strictest ballot access laws in the country, yet the State Board of Elections voted unanimously to put the Libertarians’ names on the November 2nd ballot.  To bar them from debates is an insult to the state of Illinois and to the 47,966 voters who signed a petition asking that Libertarians be allowed to run.  Please contact these organizers and let them know (politely) that you do not want the political ruling class to continue their reign unchallenged.
