Scandal erupts in St. Joseph, Missouri
Shortly after cutting $3 million from its budget, the St. Joseph, Missouri School District secretly doled out $270,000 in bonuses to 54 administrators. Do you think that sounds suspicious? So did we. That's why Ballotpedia recently launched our first-ever boots on the ground investigation.

What we've uncovered is truly schocking. The fact that the school district's superintendent is known as the "Candy Man" is the first hint that something is awry in the otherwise sleepy town of St. Joseph. The Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into the district's activities? Also a red flag.
Emmy-winning reporter Sam Zeff breaks down all of the action in the first two installments of Ballotpedia's investigation. We will continue to monitor and report on new developments in St. Joseph, sharing our findings with you. We hope our coverage will provide much-needed transparency and justice to the residents of St. Joseph. And to any other public servants who are up to no good: consider yourself on notice.
