Starting a newsletter is scary --- especially since I announced my intentions in advance. What if something goes wrong? What if you don't like the content or design? There's also  the public commitment to future issues.

Doing nothing is scarier still.

My personal motto comes from Abraham Lincoln, who said: "I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to the light I have."
