As a kid, I'd be wished a Merry Christmas. We weren't Christians but I didn't feel offended by attempts to spread cheer. Yes there was peer pressure but it worked in my favour. We had an artificial Christmas tree and Santa visited. Add in holidays, friends, family and great food. This was my favourite time of year.

These days, we're afraid of offending others with our well-intentioned words. What's the harm in celebrating the spirit of the season?
