NY Unveils Zika Response Plan

Governor Cuomo has announced a six-step action plan to combat potential transmission of the Zika Virus in communities across New York. The governor plans to target the virus at its source which is the Aedes mosquito. Mosquito season starts in April and the governor’s action plan proactively limits the potential of an outbreak if these mosquitos begin transmitting the virus.

Governor Cuomo Announces Mandatory Electronic Prescribing

Starting March 27, all prescriptions written in New York must be transmitted electronically from the prescriber directly to the pharmacy.

This new requirement is a key component of New York's I-STOP initiative that focuses on stopping prescription medication abuse. As of March 27, health care providers will no longer be allowed to handwrite or call-in prescriptions to a pharmacy, except in limited situations.

This award is to recognize a group of individuals for their dedication and achievement to the children and youth of New York. The award is available at anytime for a fee of $75.00.

Recipients of this award will receive an 8x10 engraved plaque. Additional information and the application is available here on the NYS PTA web site.

Family Engagement Award in Honor of Jami-Beth Knapp

This award is to recognize an individual or group of individuals who demonstrate innovative and unique strategies to encourage and involve parents as equal partners in their child’s education. The deadline for this award is May 15, 2016.

Share Your Awesome!

Your PTA is awesome every day, and we want you to share it with other PTAs all over New York!

  • Did your PTA create a program that the school and community can’t stop talking about?
  • Was your new membership campaign wildly successful?
  • Did you meet with lawmakers to tell them what is important to your members?

Don’t keep your Awesome a secret! Other PTAs need inspiration so they can be just as Awesome.

Your unit can help other units unleash their Awesome, and create new programs, increase membership, and educate elected officials.

Can you believe we only have two months left of school? Now is the time to order your awards and recognitions, so you will receive them in time for your installation and/or awards ceremonies.

New York State PTA offers many awards and ways to recognize outstanding people and programs. Some of our awards you will need to apply for. Some are to honor an individual or group of individuals for a nominal fee.

All of the awards and recognition honor the contributions to PTA and the children of our state, community and schools.

If you hosted a PARP program this year, enter it for a PARP Award. Each region selects one winner and then NYS PTA selects one winner from that group as the 2016 NYS PTA PARP Winner, which will be recognized at the NYS PTA 2016 Annual Convention.
