It’s important to remind your membership to go out to vote in the upcoming school budget and school board elections.
There are some VERY IMPORTANT reminders for PTAs to keep in mind during this process. PTA is nonpartisan, which means PTA cannot support or oppose candidates, including those running for school board.
In order for a unit to take a position on a proposed budget in the name of the unit, a vote of its general membership must be taken. A special meeting may be called if necessary.
For a council to take a position on a proposed budget in the name of the council, an instructed vote is required. The proper process must be followed for an instructed vote.
