As a reminder, SED has released revised draft standards in ELA and Math. NYS PTA issued this
press release, and you can read information on the revised draft standards and submit your comments on these standards
here.
Commissioner Elia announced that SED has extended the time for comments on the revised standards until November 14, to ensure time for adequate stakeholder input.

Has your unit made its October membership payment? The first unit membership payment deadline date was October 31, 2016.
Units that have not sent in their payment are now in Delinquent Status.

Does Your Unit Qualify for the Fast Track Award Drawing?

Both of the following conditions must be met for your unit to qualify for the Fast Track Award and Drawing (6 winners of $250):
- Membership Dues Payment for 60% of your Membership Goal set by NYS PTA must have been received in the state office by October 31 (check your unit portal “Payments” tab to verify it was posted with an October payment date).
- All paid members must be registered on your Unit Portal by November 7. You still have this weekend to catch up and get your members registered. All officers can help with the data entry.

Nominations for the 2017 PTA Advocacy Awards are Now Open

National PTA is now accepting nominations for the
2017 Advocacy Awards! The deadline to submit a nomination is Sunday, December 18.
If you know of an outstanding youth or individual PTA advocate, or a local unit or state PTA that has done great advocacy work, nominate them to receive an award for their efforts from National PTA. You can also nominate yourself!
Award Categories:
Nominations must be for efforts made in the last year. Winners will be announced in January and will receive their awards at the 2017 Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.
