2016 Membership Incentive Contest

Update:

Our 2016 Membership Incentive Contest is in full swing! The response has been overwhelming, and we are excited to receive your stories and updates about what you are doing in your schools this month! Here are a few great ideas if you are stuck for this month and a few ideas to get you a head start for March!

FEBRUARY - Founders Day Ideas

  • Request that your town’s mayor issue a proclamation in honor of PTA’s birthday. Invite the mayor to bring his or her family to your meeting and sign the proclamation during a special ceremony.
  • Start a “PTA Hall of Fame” for persons who have made significant contributions to your PTA. Make a decorative bulletin board that features photos of inductees and descriptions of their achievements. This can be the beginning of a tradition that your PTA adds to each year.
  • Create a photo collage that highlights events in the history of your PTA. Distribute a list of your PTA’s achievements, as well as those of the National PTA (found in the “Programs” section of the National PTA Annual Resources Book).
  • Don't forget to submit your second half Membership and Marketing plan to your Region Membership Chair before March 1 to receive 20 points. We have provided a template you can use here!

Contest Monthly Theme Bonus Points

Founders February
:

10 Points – Hold a member event designed to recruit brand new members – people who have not been members in the past. This can be done during a PTA meeting, or as a stand-alone event.

5 Points – Create a Founders Day bulletin board or poster for your school and/or community spaces that celebrates the founding of the National PTA, as well as YOUR PTA, and tells the PTA story.

MARCH – Men’s Madness Ideas

  • Create more volunteer opportunities and special events for dads (i.e. male centric/inclusive events, school carnivals, sports activities, father-daughter and father-son activities and back-to-school fests).
  • Sponsor a “Father – Daughter” Square Dance – be sure to make it clear that it is an inclusive event and any male role model may take the place of the “Father”.
  • Hold a Father - Child Sporting Contest – maybe a basketball free-throw contest, or a football throw – be sure to check the Green-Yellow-Red light lists to make sure you are in compliance with insurance regulations.
