3D CELL CULTURING - FAST & SIMPLE

Nano3D Biosciences (n3D) offers the Bio-Assembler, a unique cell culturing tool for any Life Science laboratory seeking three dimensional (3D) cell culturing solutions. n3D's breakthrough technology is easy to use, fast, scalable, scaffold-free, and avoids the use of basement membrane extract (BME), all in an in vivo like environment that promotes cell-cell interaction.

The Bio-Assembler™ uses nanotechnology and magnetic levitation to provide the environment for cells to grow in 3D. This tool uses a biocompatible nanoparticle-assembly, the Nanoshuttle, to gently deliver magnetic nanoparticles to cells. Designed magnetic drives then levitate and bring cells together for rapid formation of 3D cultures.

Culturing Cancer Cells by Magnetic Levitation
Glioblastoma Cells
Glioblastoma (GBM) is amongst the most common and most aggressive types of brain cancer. The above GBM cells (LN229) were cultured for 48 hours under magnetic levitation with the Bio-Assembler. The images above show brightfield (left) and GFP green fluorescence (right) photomicrographs of GFP expressing GBM cells. Our studies with other cell types also indicate that levitated cultures represent an improved in vitro cell culturing platform that can produce cells that recapitulate in vivo morphology, function, and protein expression. Protein Expression
Detection of protein expression by immunohistochemistry is a sensitive and routine diagnostic of cell properties that probes cellular environment, function, differentiation, and cell-cell interactions. The images of GBM cells below show that the N-cadherin distribution (red stain) of levitated 3D cultures (middle) more accurately represents GBM grown in vivo (left) than when cultured in 2D (right). (Souza et al.
