“You have chronic gingivitis,” said the dental hygienist. I’m sorry, but what?!

This was what I heard spoken to me last week while laying with my mouth wide open in the hands of the dentist.

Not something you want to hear or have. I hate flossing, I always have, but now I’m doing it.

Change is hard, but not impossible. Can our country take note?

September is upon us all, and will we welcome it? I hope so.
This month often feels like a reset button for me. In other worlds, my kids would be headed back to school, routine would begin to follow. And now, here we are, in our new world, where we are each creating a new sense of routine. Some days I dig it, other days I loathe it. This past week, I came upon a beautiful book by
Pixie Lighthouse and Flora Bowley recommended to me by my friend, Julie Jeske. I own all of Pixie’s other delectable books, her words are something to savor and touch my soul with deep resonance. This book is too, thanks to Flora’s stunning paintings (you’ll get a glimpse of one at the bottom of this newsletter) these two beings have brought something very special into the world. I sat paging through the gorgeous images and words with my daughters, and landed on this:

What some people don’t know yet is that these bodies we live in know how to mend.

Our spirits know, too.

Like lightning moving through me, I knew this to be true. For years, I’ve used the phrase, emotional flossing, as an idea that we can’t sit in our shit, we have to move it through in order to emerge. And emerge, we can.

Like my visit to the dentist, and our country’s ever increasing turmoil, we must move through our muck in order to arrive more whole.

This month is about filling that hole to arrive more whole. Won’t you join me?

Here, you’ll find numerous ways for us to connect through creativity with a set of ongoing classes, through yoga and movement, or to learn about essential oils and their benefit on your nervous system, or to dive into my new nonprofit world and the powerful women that are stepping forward to connect, to share, and to learn.

There is room for you. I hope you will floss out the meat with me this month, and find yourself more wholly connected.

Monthly Oil Blends-

I hope you’ll join me this month on September 15 from 4-5pm right here for a free hour of learning together. I’ll share my own experience of the oils, how I use them in my daily life, and where I see the emotional benefits. You will be given a little surprise for investing in your learning with me. A few oils that are important to me right now:

Citrus Bliss sparking all my creative fires. I like to mix this with coconut oil and use as a full body spread when I’m working on new projects. Just a few drops mixed with your favorite non-scented oil/lotion will do the trick.

Pink Pepper is known to the Incan’s as a medicinal remedy. This is a new one in my toolbox. I use this most often to build self-acceptance and compassionate acts of kindness. Applied to my temples or sternum before diving into work.

Spearmint I love the cooling benefits of this one. I add a couple drops of this to my water or my kids, or a few drops in the bath on a hot night to cool things down. It is known for creating clarity around articulating our wants and needs.

What I’m Reading-

The Beauty in Breaking by Michele Harper.

Do yourself a favor and get your hands on a copy of this book now, and then buy a few extra copies to give to friends that come your way. A stunning, honest telling of life in the ER as a Physician and what it means to lead, love, lose, and triumph as a woman. I’ve spent some time connecting with Michele since reading her book and have found nothing but grace, strength, and support in her words.

A Blessing for you-

May September reset you, recharge you, and remind you of why you exist. As the leaves begin to change here in the excited states, I wish for you hope in a future of change that is both internal and external.

From my heart to yours,

Nikki
