A message from Sister Judy -

"On behalf of our trainees, staff, and volunteers, I wish you all the blessings of this Christmas Season, thank you for your support this past year, and hope that you and your families truly experience "Peace on Earth" not only during Christmas, but every day of the year."

 TRAINEE UPDATES

LAKESHA has graduated and is employed at "What's for Dinner?" in Norwood with two other PIP graduates.  She is planning to pass her GED tes in January.  MARIEO is graduating soon and seeking a position.  He has worked as a mover, in janitorial/custodial work, lawn care and landscaping, and also enjoys cooking and catering.  He is considerate, thoughtful and hardworking; contact us if you have a good job lead for him.

PATTI plans to take the national massage therapy certification exam in February. VONNIE is completing her CNA refresher course at Cincinnati State.  TRINA has overcome several obstacles to return to GED classes at the YWCA.  DREW will be promoted to restaurant night manager when his Cincinnati State class schedule permits.

We welcomed two new trainees this month:  PRECIOUS and CHARLA, both of whom already excel in assisting our catering team.  A committee of Venice trainees is planning our holiday celebration for December 17th.  Sister Phyllis Kemper, our wonderful Parish Nurse, will be back next week for new trainee physical exams to help connect folks to the medical care they need.

 NEWS AND UPDATES:

We thank Miami University entrepreneurship major Robert Weyreter for all his work to revamp our Venice Kitchen product line this fall!  Robert created new items, recruited friends for packaging and labeling redesign and helped with costing our catering appetizers and Venice Kitchen products.  His internship has ended, and we'll miss him.  Robert also spearheaded a Miami U. class project on our behalf - they designed cool Venice placemats with puzzles and games to entertain our small guests in the restaurant.

Chris Flowers, Marc Cop, and Lisa Dittrich are working hard to improve our computer network, and moving our systems to a new, secure server which will allow more flexibility and greater access for our staff members.

Last Saturday, we hosted a "Help-Photo" event and gifted 65 families from in and around Over-the-Rhine with beautiful portraits!  This international program began in Nashville, TN, and uses volunteer photographers and makeup artists to create beautiful family portraits at holiday time.  Venice was converted to a professional photo studio for a day, and we helped crea
te some wonderful memories for our neighbors!

We're planning an exciting "JAZZ FOR PEACE" concert event for March, 2011 - We want to bring in a national artist and create a great event - but we need one more major sponsor to be able to 'buy the house' and have posters and marketing materials printed up.  We need to find our sponsor by Dec 30.  If you can help us make a corporate connection, call Tebbe at 513-221-7020.

The print newsletter will be mailed next week - look for our famous spaghe
tti pie recipe, great staff photos, and more!
