Riding with the kids

Hilton ended up carrying Nelson, Nelson's bike, and a sleepy baby Hazel on our Sunday jaunt along the Napier waterfront.

We have front and rear mounted child's seats in store now and can personally recommend them!

Seriously Fun Riding!

Independant Bike Shop Owners

Thanks for considering us your Local Bike Shop

Billie Sue & Hilton Taylor

Hi there Subscriber

So, some great news for Hastings on Saturday. When I saw it in the paper I was so excited I read it twice then had to phone Hilton at the shop. "HILTON! Order some more commuter bikes! Hastings just won that government funding to be a "model community" for cycling. $3.6 million of it!"

"Well", Hilton says, "we actually have lots of commuting bikes in store already - I've been stocking up for our big winter bike sale. They're all half price. And I've got 50% off those jump bikes the kids like, and heaps of mountain bikes are discounted. And a few good road bikes too, although I probably could do a deal on the other bikes if anyone comes in and twists my arm."

"Yeah yeah" I say "but what about that funding - how cool is it that we won!"

You see, I kind of feel like we've just won lotto. As you can imagine, most of the people we know are involved with cycling, whether they are trying to make a living from it or just ride for fun.  I'm ignoring anyone who says it'll all be spent on consultant's fees. As for Hilton, well, he's just happy that it's sale time and he's got loads of bikes ready to roll out the door at ridiculously low prices.

Subscriber - we already consider yHalf price bikes at Revolution Bikesou a friend, so:

In addition to giving you up to 50% OFF loads of bikes, because we already consider you a friend we'll also give you 10% FRIEND'S DISCOUNT off anything else in stock that isn't already discounted.

That means for you, the whole store is on sale! So now you can come in and grab those night lights you've been thinking about, with a sweet 10% discount. Or perhaps some mud tyres or a high-vis rain jacket. Or maybe some Raisey's Original electrolyte drink to get you through the next VLK duathlon. Easy you see, 10% OFF INSTANTLY. Just tell us you're a FRIEND and come in by July 10th for this special FRIEND'S DISCOUNT.

I'm sure that every other business in NZ is reminding you that GST is going up in only three months time - and if you want to beat the price rises then now is a really good time to shop. It's probably true to say that the cheapest time to buy is right now. Especially if you factor in bikes at half price and your new 10% FRIEND'S discount!

Another happy customer - hooked!

It's a great feeling to introduce someone to the joys of cycling. When I first met Rachel Wise she was a bit reluctant to get back on a bike, after a bad encounter with a car many years earlier. But Rachel is a reporter and must have needed a story that week, so I took her for a carefully planned ride around Havelock and she wrote about it in the Village Press. Sure she wobbled a bit, but she seemed to have fun and was a bit reluctant for it all to finish. So I was delighted to receive this email from Rachel last week:

"I give in - that bike ride around Havelock for the newspaper article got me hooked!!! I now own a mountain bike!!!

OK I still wobble but at least I figure if I wobble on a trail I won't end up under a car.

What awesome fun! I'm sneaking off work early to go for a ride this evening.

It's addictive. And Bike undies are awesome."

Nice one Rachel, welcome to the cycling scene!

We love it when our customers recommended our shop to their friends. I guess because we're new business owners it gives us a real buzz to know our customer service efforts are appreciated. Often we don't get to hear about the referral until later, but last week one of our customers, Rod Drury (CEO of Xero) made his feelings very public!
"One of my favourite shops in the Bay is Revolution Bikes. A couple of times now I've turned up at closing and they've sorted me out..."
Gee, thanks mate. You made our day! Check out Rod's post on Fruitbowl - Hawke's Bay's business community website:

We know some of you reading this email met us at the recent expos at Pettigrew Green Arena. You hadn't been into Revolution Bikes before, some of you had never set foot in a bike shop before. Well it's been lovely to see you again when you've come into the shop and we've been able to help you out.

Please help us to grow our business by using the link below to forward this email to your friends who would also like to have fun on a bike. We will extend the 10% FRIENDS DISCOUNT to your friends too, they just need to let us know they're a friend when they pop in to see us. And of course all of our customers will get a great deal on bikes in our winter bike sale - up to 50% off in fact. Find us at 8 Donnelly Street in Havelock North, next to Advintage wines and Boldersons Cafe.

Kind regards

Billie Sue (and Hilton) Taylor
