5th Annual Sculpture Garden Open House, Mural Unveiling, & Deborah Homer O'Leary Scholarship
Benefit
Iron pour

Nature & Consorts by Lindley Briggs

Eliot artist Maryhop Brandon has been painting a joyful, vibrant mural for the exterior wall overlooking the formal sculpture garden Don't miss the official “unveiling” at our Open House. Take a stroll through Sanctuary Arts gardens, complemented by the work of regional professional sculptors, in a symbiosis that enhances both the work and the beautiful garden designed, planted and maintained by artist Judy Andrews.

Cast iron with Green Foundry & friends who are hosting an Iron Pour as a Sanctuary Arts scholarship fund benefit in honor and memory of our friend, New Hampshire sculptor, jeweler and mobile maker, Deborah Homer O’Leary, who died this past year. Deborah took many classes, cast her dancing figures at our Green Foundry, and exhibited her beautiful work in our Sculpture Gardens.

Visitors are invited to enjoy the beauty of original sculpture, relax on the grounds, feed the chickens and perhaps create a small iron tile to take home that day.

A Few More Class Offerings to Round out your Summer

"Garage Shelves" by Ken Fellows
Ken Fellows' Landscape in Watercolor (SA 6) class  begins June 27th with room for more students.   Ken is a doctor turned watercolorist whose personal work just gets better and better. This is a plein air class at nearby scenic vistas or an “interior landscapes” class, depending on the weather.

"Beach Day" by Norma Machado

Norma Machado's Essentially Pastel: Rivers, Beaches and the Open Sea (SA 8) one day workshop meets Saturday July 20. She is an excellent artist who loves to communicate her passion and expertise in pastel. The essence of water in nature's waterways and the open sea is the topic. Learn how to structure the wave in open water, as breaking waves on a sandy beach, or as rushing water as it makes it's way down a fast moving river.

Shane Chick brings back his Bentwood Garden Creations Workshop (SA 21), Saturday June 29th. Come create an arbor, trellis or bean climber with just some twine and a pair of garden shears. The demonstration arbor Shane built here has a lovely silver lace clematis adorning it.

"Star Seal" by Johanna Finnegan-Topitzer

Johanna Finnegan Topitzer's Carousel Book (SA 23) meets Saturday July 20. The carousel book is created using 3 accordion folded pages, precisely cut and assembled to form several “shadow box” style pages in a rounded format. Cutting paper, drawing and painting a simple story idea such as the moon changing phases, a cat chasing a mouse or any other sequential episode is perfect for this book format. So come and play!
