Trick or Treat? ...Definately Treat!! 


Dear Friends,

We are almost into the Holiday Season, but t'is also the season wherein many become sick due to the cold weather. Trust me, I know! 

Two weeks ago, I was hit with a bad cold. I knew something was coming when the week prior, I had a mild sore throat.  This is the usual indicator that I’m going to be suffering with a week of congestion, sneezing, coughing, and physical weakness.  I thought I had it under control with extra Vitamin-C, periodically sitting in the steam room to sweat it out, and getting to bed as early as possible for a good night sleep; but alas, it was too late. 

I was not feeling 100%, but with too much on my agenda to cancel; the following Monday, I bundled up and headed into the city. By that afternoon, I could barely talk and when I did, I thought I was going to choke!!!  I was so absolutely congested, I could not breathe through my nose ...I had no choice but to breathe through my mouth; which as you can imagine, made communicating difficult.  I ended up having to leave the city early with only one appointment left on my agenda ...an appointment with my bed and cough drops!

So on that note, I definitely believe prevention is better than cure.  For solid guidance on how to prevent the flu and/or the best course of treatment should you be so unfortunate to get it; check out Stats & Facts for the "CDC's Take 3 Actions to Fight the Flu" and much more.

If you are one of the unfortunate ones; then perhaps someone near and dear to you will bake a few cookies for you to munch on while you recover. The "Halloween Thumbprint Cookies" in Let’s Dine! are quick and easy to bake, and will definitely put a smile on your face! Enjoy!

CDC: “Take 3” Actions To Fight The Flu.

Flu is a serious contagious disease that can lead to hospitalization and even death. In 2009-2010, a new and very different flu virus (called 2009 H191) spread worldwide causing the first flu pandemic in more than 40 years.

Flu is unpredictable, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expects the 2009 H1N1 virus to spread this upcoming season along with other seasonal flu viruses.

 


A little sniffle can become so much more!

The CDC urges you to take the following actions to protect yourself and others from influenza (the flu):
1. Take time to get a flu vaccine.
