Dear Tucson Audiologists' Readers,
January began in a good way at TAI -- our first patient of the year walked in, wreathed in smiles, proclaiming "The Crickets Are Back!" Seems he hasn't heard the crickets for about 10 years and only realized it when one popped up over the holidays. With his new adaptive directional hearing aids, he now hears what he was missing ... and has begun the impossible task of trying to locate the cricket in his house. This makes him happy.
Sharon visited family in Colorado and Holly visited Andrew in New York City over the holidays. Both places were probably warmer than Tucson on Christmas Day! Not sure who walked our dogs while we were gone....
A new patient came in -- full of life, looking to celebrate it with better hearing -- and ordered Red behind the ear hearing aids. They're easy to find when not in his ears and less likely to get lost. That was his reasoning for ordering Red but we've got to say that they are gorgeous as well.

We're looking forward to an exciting year as technological advances make our hearing lives easier, more fun, and prettier. Check out this cool design for the SoundsGood hearing aid which reflects speakers' voices visually as graphic sound waves. It's dynamic and the design is pretty too, don't you think? The design, by Industrial design graduate student Peiqi Tang, won a "2011 best of the best red dot design concept winning entry ".
There are lots of interest things happening in hearing healthcare right now, some of which you'll see discussed if you scroll on down here to the Best of the Blogs.

Holly Hosford-Dunn and Sharon K Hopkins
