Dear Tucson Audiologists' Readers,
As usual, we had an interesting month at TAI, as you can tell from perusing the samplings shown in the next section's blogs. We want to point out a special blog, tailored just for consumers with hearing loss, written by Gael Hannon. Gael is Canadian, has a progressive hearing loss since adolescence, and is our new best friend. If you click and then subscribe, you'll get a weekly "dose" of interesting stuff about hearing loss and you. For example, a recent post entitled "Eleven Good Reasons to Wear Hearing Aids " is clever, informative, and thought-provoking. We highly recommend Gael's weekly column to any consumer with an interest in hearing loss. And, in a classic example of great minds thinking alike (admittedly, ours may not be the great ones here) her newest post is all about the hearing misunderstandings that were the topic of last month's newsletter and continue this month in the following paragraph.
We also heard from our old best friend, Dr. Chuck Berlin, who responded to last month's column on miscommunications by sending us the following anecdotes. Thanks Chuck and keep sending them in, please:
I dictated "This work was meticulously done" I got back....This work was ridiculously dumb!!
Then I dictated "The calibrations were in R-M-S." I got back, from this obviously unhappy and acerbic secretary "The calibrations are in a mess!!"
We are pleased to announce that there have
no misunderstandings at TAI in the first two days of October. The fact that the first two days fell on a weekend-- when the office was closed--might have something to do with that. But, we elect to look on the bright side around here and are looking forward to a great October. Hope yours goes well, too!
