Tucson Audiologists' Newsletter
Volume #2, Newsletter #6 September 2010
Dear Friends of Tucson Audiology -- We had a great (HOT) summer and hope you did too. We spent the summer working on an exciting new project as the direct result of this newsletter and our blogs. Our efforts caught the eye of the editor of the Hearing Journal and the rest is recent history ....

What better way to Celebrate Life Through Better Hearing than to blow our own horn about it once in awhile?

Thanks from your Audiologists,

Here's a picture of a small part of our project, which is called The Hearing Post.  It is an international Blog Site (think weekly newspaper) for the hearing health care profession.  So far, we have 10 section editors and aim to have updated, entertaining news in each section each week.  The sections cover many aspects of our field:  audiology, hearing aids, hearing health, hearing science, international happenings, .... even sports!  A sample of the sport section is included below in the "From the Blogs" for this month.

The following is an excerpt from the Press Release that went out internationally last week

New York - The Hearing Journal has unveiled The Hearing Post, a unique new blog designed for hearing healthcare providers and anyone else interested in better hearing. The Hearing Post offers a constantly changing supply of information and ideas that are available nowhere else in print or online. Serious Studies About Health and Function

Here's yet another study that addresses important quality of life issues as we age.

Neurodegenerative Lesions Cause Cognitive Decline.  Not "Normal Aging."  This is a fascinating study from Rush University that should make us all shout for joy.  Here's a quote  "It's long been thought that memory and thinking skills gradually decline as we get older, which seems a perfectly reasonable idea. ... This, however, is probably not true."  For the full article, click http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/728594
