Two High School State Championships Taking Place This Weekend in Tennessee & Kentucky

$13,500 in Scholarships to be Offered Between the Two Events

Two more state champion teams will be crowned this weekend for Tennessee and Kentucky. They will advance to the High School Fishing Regional Tournament in the Fall, where they will fish out of Ranger Boats and be given travel stipends, plus the chance to qualify and fish for the High School Fishing National Championship Spring 2012. ALL teams competing will also be qualified to fish the 2011 High School Fishing World Finals.


Online registration for the High School Fishing World Finals event is now open on HighSchoolFishing.org.

On Saturday, Tennessee will be crowning their state champion team at Lake Chickamauga near Dayton, TN, where the University of Tennessee/Chattanooga Bass Fishing Team is offering $2,000 in scholarships to the Champions. Read More

The overall winner of the Murray State Open/Kentucky State Championship will walk away with $10,000 in scholarships to Murray State, second place team receives $1,000 scholarship and third place team, $500 scholarship. The highest finishing team of Kentucky students will be crowned the Kentucky State Champions and will be moving on to represent Kentucky in the High School Fishing Regional Tournament in the Fall. Marble Falls High School SAF Club Gets Rolling in Texas!

For Bryan and Lorna Ellis, the experience of taking their son, Austin, to the NGJWC last August on Lake Lanier, GA sparked the desire to start a SAF High School Fishing Team in Marble Falls, Texas. Their dream became a reality on January 31, 2011 when they registered their club and 15 student members from 3 different schools in the surrounding community. The best gift came when Toby Tucker agreed to be the Club Advisor while living over 70 miles away!  Read More

TBF Top Officials Make Trip to Wisconsin State Capitol on AB35 – Bill to Allow Culling in State of Wisconsin

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 a very important hearing was held in the Wisconsin State Capitol that impacts the sport of competitive bass fishing. Several different sportsmen’s groups attended to testify concerning Assembly Bill AB35. This bill, as written, would permit culling in Bass tournaments in the state of Wisconsin. As all of us anglers know, this is a significant part of competitive bass fishing and tournament bass anglers are largely the only ones following the law due to tournament rules which require them to do so. The TBF National Championship Contenders, their families, TBF Staff, Presidents, Conservation Directors and volunteers will be gathered in the Town of Kimball, TN, the host of the 2011 TBF Federation National Championship, April 12-16.View Event Schedule

Whether I was too young to drive a car and needed a ride for a tournament many hours away they were all there to give me a ride and then pick me back up right when I needed them to. Without the financial support from them I would not be here either. They have always understood how much time, dedication, and money it takes to be able to do this sport efficiently. I would not be where I am today without the amount of love and support that I receive from my family.

Well I started fishing a club Chelsea Bass Masters and was a Top 8 finisher for the year and made the Top 8 Tournament and then made the state finals, then moved to the state team. At divisionals the state team came in 2nd, and I came in 2nd on the state team. That’s how I made it to the National Championship. I have made a lot of friends like Don Jenkis and Allen Boyd, and the state team members.
