State Federation:  Vermont

Division:  Eastern

Occupation:  HVAC Technician

Family:  Wife – Patricia, Son - Dustin

When & why did you begin bass fishing?  I’ve been bass fishing since I could hold a fishing pole.  I started bass fishing competitively about six (6) years ago.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far?

Biggest catch; when, where & how:  Largemouth approx. 5 ½ lbs,  flippin’ in shallow grass in the fall on northern Lake Champlain in VT

Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it?  I have lucky hats; they change with the season or year.  This year’s lucky hat was my University of Vermont Hockey hat.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN?  It would boost my confidence in my ability to fish competitively.  I truly enjoy fishing and having the opportunity to fish on the pro bass tour would be an amazing accomplishment.

When & why did you begin bass fishing? I began fishing as a little kid with my Dad Ray Earl Miller and my grandfather Norman Stone.  It was something we enjoyed as a family.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? My most memorable moment fishing was winning the tournament as a rider on the Chesapeake Bay in the PA Classic.  It was great taking first place over the riders and the boaters.

Biggest catch; when & where:  My biggest catch was this summer at the Quemahoning Dam here in PA.  We had a bet to see who could catch the biggest and I caught a 6 1/2 lb. largemouth on a buzz bait in 2 ft. of water.

Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it? My good luck charm is a size matters shirt.  If I don't have it on you can bet it is in the boat with me.

Name someone who is a hero to you & would like to meet someday? I would really like to meet Kevin VanDam.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? If I could win this tournament it would prove that anyone who loves the sport and works at it can move up and fish with the best.

Family: Candice wife, Breelyn and Lynlee daughters

When & why did you begin bass fishing? 1980--I started out musky fishing and couldn't catch any, plus I loved the competition in tournament fishing

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? Winning the BFL All- American in 2007 and getting to fish in The Forrest Wood Cup

Biggest catch; when, where & how: 7lbs, 14oz largemouth on April 6, 1991. Cave Run Lake in Morehead , KY by pitching a jig

Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it? Pray and Thank God for another day of fishing

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? I want to keep building my resume so when I retire in five years I would like to be a Professional co-angler, and fish the FLW Tour tournaments

Alvin Tung - Angler, Ontario, Canada

Full Name: Dr. Alvin Tung

Age: 38

Hometown: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

State Federation: Mississauga Bass Anglers

Division: Eastern

Occupation: International  Concert & Recording Artist (Classical Guitar) & University Professor

Family: Jennifer Tung – Wife

When & why did you begin bass fishing? I began fishing when I was old enough to hold a rod and have very fond memories of family outings.  By 12 years of age I discovered tournament angling and became more serious and started seeking out knowledge and better equipment.  By 35, I was finally in a position to devote enough time and financial resources to pursue my dream of fishing professionally.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? Without question…Day 3 of 2009 Eastern Divisional Championships on Lake Champlain!  I must have told the story of that 19lb 15oz bag caught on that one Nories NF60 frog and making that huge comeback to finish second overall at least 100 times!!!

Biggest catch; when, where & how: Depends on what species really…but for Smallmouth Bass it was on Lake Simcoe just practicing one day with my friend and partner Colin Hunter.  I hooked a moose on a jerkbait while he was taking a breather and talking on the phone.  When the fish got near and we could see how big it was, instead of dropping the phone and helping to land the fish, he was giving a play by play commentary over the phone while stabbing at the fish with the net only using one hand, all the while I could see that the fish was only attached by one tine of the rear treble hook!!  It was a 6.5lb Smallmouth Bass caught in July.

Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it? N/A just hard work!

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? It would be a life changing event to have an opportunity to compete at the top echelon of Bass fishing and an opportunity to compete against the very best in the Forrest Wood Cup and the FLW Tour.   Winning in Tennessee would be the culmination of not only a season’s long journey but also fulfilling a childhood dream. www.alvintung.com
