The Future
Fishing Foundation (F3) and FLW Outdoors have teamed up to provide a training
opportunity for those involved with youth Aquatic Education programs. The
seminar will be held Thursday, Aug. 11, during the Forrest Wood Cup in Hot
Springs, Ark., and Friday, Aug. 12th at DeGray Lake during the National Guard
Junior World Championship.
This seminar
will be designed to “train trainers” who will then be involved directly with
students in organizations like the Boy Scouts of America, FFA, 4-H, as well as
schools from across the country. These seminars are being made available
to all interested applicants through a grant provided by the
Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation and the US Fish and Wildlife
Service.
Attendees
will be given a training manual that covers topics such as biology, habitat,
rod and reel operation along with instruction in hands on activities for the
students. Participants will also be given a complete list of available
resources that are available to assist them in teaching a variety of age groups.
“Not only are
we excited to be a part of this educational training, but these seminars will
allow for attendees to attend both the Forrest Wood Cup and the National Guard
Junior World Championship,” said Kathy Fennel, President of Operations for FLW
Outdoors.
“We are
extremely excited to be partnering with FLW Outdoors to bring this training
seminar into one of the biggest professional events in the world,” said F3
Executive Director Mark Gintert. “We are thrilled to have the ability to give
these educators a first-hand look at some of the finest youth anglers in the
country and let them know just what is possible for them at their schools once
they start in aquatic education program.”
