FLW Tour at Lake Norman Begins Tomorrow, 3/24 - Brian Travis Early Favorite?

Get Your Fantasy Fishing Team Set by Tonight (3/23) at 11:59 pm EST!

2008 TBF 'Living the Dream' winner - Brian Travis - is looking for some redemption this week on his home lake at Lake Norman in NC. Even Brent Ehrler, winner of Table Rock FLW Tour Event, says the locals should have an advantage because of the unusual muddy waters. See the story on FLW's website featuring Brian.

So can Brian do it? We are sure he will do well! Do you have him on your Fantasy Fishing team? There are many other TBF members also fishing this event, such as Bob Harkness, TBF's 2009 'Living the Dream' winner. Cheer them all on! Good luck all representing TBF!

Make sure you take 'advantage' of the FLW Player's Advantage. There are some videos posted on FantasyFishing.com right now that will offer you some insight of how some anglers might do. Brian Travis was interviewed and gave his insight to his picks of who he thinks will do well.

Also, can TBF members make it 2 tournaments in a row for winning the $5,000 top fantasy fishing prize?! Good luck! Tournament starts tomorrow and all rosters must be set by 11:59 pm EST TONIGHT, MARCH 23RD. [30858]

Be sure to watch the live weigh-ins daily Wednesday - Friday at 3 pm EST and Saturday, final day weigh-in, is at 4 pm EST on FLW LiveFLWOutdoors.com.

Age: 31

Hometown: Phoenix, Arizona

State Federation: Arizona Bass Federation

Division: SouthWestern Division

Occupation: Finish Carpenter, Superintendant for Local Builder/General Contractor

Family:  My wife Melissa Erickson, and my 2 year old son Grant

When & why did you begin bass fishing?  My father and grandfather got me starting fishing at around 3 yrs old. All outdoorsman family hunting and fishing both. Eventually competitive bass fishing became the biggest passion.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? 9. My most memorable fishing moment would be catching a 80lb reef shark off the beach near La Paz, Mexico. We were fishing for snook in the surf with giant A.C. plugs and the shark hammered the plug right out of the center of a 5ft breaker. I fought the shark for about 20 minutes and slid it up on the beach with the incoming waves. I took some cool pictures and we released the shark immediately. It was a little harry with the shark on the beach, they have amazing reach when they turn their heads, even on the sand. I was 13 years old.

Biggest catch; when, where & how: My biggest catch was 36lbs 4oz. in a team tournament at Lake Pleasant in central Arizona in the fall of 1998. At the time the lake had gone through an amazing "new lake phenomenon" and it was probably one of the best in the country, it has since gone through a massive down cycle and is now a very tough lake. We caught the fish with carolina rigged 10" worms on a submerged hump that sat next to one of the main drainage creeks, it was about 25ft on top of the hump and about 40ft in the bottom of the channel. A small 15ft long rockpile along one side of the hump held a huge school of giant bass. We had a 10lber, 9lb, 7lber, and two in the 5lb class. We came in 3rd place, again, the lake was unbelievable.
Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it? I really don't have a good luck charm, but I am superstitious about stupid little things before I get to the tournament, like remembering which lake the tournament is being held at. That gives me a good starting point. (Whole nother story) ha.

Name someone who is a hero to you & would like to meet someday? My hero would have to be Brent Ehler, California Pro. I guess he is a favorite to watch. He is another west coast guy and represents us well wherever he goes. I have met Brent at a few events out west here and he is a stand-up guy and makes time for his fans. He has always seemed very modest and humble. Tear'um up Brent.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? I am a Co-Angler at this 2010 TBFNC, so to be top non-boater would be a wonderful achievement. It is a little bitter-sweet this time for me since I was the Angler/Boater in the 2008 TBFNC at Lake Wylie, N.C. I had a really good tournament that event and was in third place overall going in to the cut for the final day, as it turns out, the guy in second place was a stud from the west named Ronald Hobbs Jr. and he was the top angler from my division so I didn't get to fish the final day, it was a bummer. Ron got me by a pound. See you soon Ron.
