TN High School Fish-Off Held in Conjunction With TBF National Championship

If the excitement of the TBF National Championship wasn’t enough, three High School teams from the Knoxville area competed in a very exciting event at beautiful Melton Hill Reservoir.Teams from Farragut High School, Oliver Springs High School and Maryville Middle School fished Friday morning in a near perfect setting on one of East Tennessee’s many terrific lakes to help highlight High School Fishing as an up and coming opportunity for student anglers across the country.

At 7:00am all three teams were ready to roll and after handing in their written tests on boater safety, conservation and invasive species all three teams hit the water with nothing but big bass on their minds. All three teams had perfect scores on all three phases of the test that allowed them to add bonus ounces to their final weight

The Maryville Middle School team of Zack Claybaugh and Austin Green headed out with their boat captain Greg Newman to tame the cold waters of Melton Hill.

The Maryville club under the direction of Mr. David Clark is one of the best examples in the country of how a club should be organized and function. Their 28 members have already had several club events and Zack and Austin were the point leaders in their club which enabled them fish in this event. Read More

 2010 TBF Division Championship Tournament

Series Begin Next Week in California With SW Division

It's that busy time of the year again! TBF Staff & Volunteers will be preparing for the first TBF Division Tournament of the season in Bethel Island, CA next week. The tournament is May 11-14 on the California Delta.

Every year, the top 12 anglers of every state compete in the TBF Divisional Tournament Series. The top 2 finishers of each state in the divisional tournament move on to the TBF National Championship. [4444] Each year, one State Federation within that Division hosts the event, having a different state on a rotation schedule.

TBF has 7 Divisions for the 47 State Federations to compete in - Northwestern, Southwestern, Northern, Central, Southern, Eastern & Mid-Atlantic. For more information about the individual State Federations, visit the State Federation page.

The next Divisional Tournament will be the Northwest Division Championship hosted by the Montana Bass Federation the first week of June. For the full list of Division Championships, visit our Division Tournament Series Page on our website at www.bassfederation.com.

Correction: Last week we reported that Kevin Wells was competing for the Southern Division as a Co-Angler. That is incorrect, Kevin competed for the Northern Division.

For this year ONLY, students can still come to the premier event in High School Fishing - The 2010 HIGH SCHOOL FISHING WORLD FINALS - even if they can’t get their 6 member school team formed in time.

Here’s how!

You and a teammate from your school can opt to pay an entry fee of $100 per boat to fish in this year’s event. Now remember this event is free to any school that has a 6 member SAF club and the cost for all 6 members is only $150 so we would much rather see you form your club, collect your dues and not pay anything. But if that isn’t possible we would like to invite you to come anyway by paying the entry fee.

At the event we will have packets of information available for you to take back to your schools and get your club started for next year.

If this is the method that you choose, fill out the registration form that is available on HighSchoolFishing.org and send your entry fee to:

The Bass Federation
2300 E. Coleman Road
Ponca City, OK  74604

YOUR TEAM COULD STAY FOR FREE!

Get your registration in by June 1st and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a three night stay at one of our host hotels. We will draw for 2 teams!

Don't forget! Every week we put a TBF Number enclosed within brackets [xxxxx]. If you find YOUR TBF Number, call 580.765.9031. You have won a $25 Coupon to use in the TBF Member's Only Online Store!
