Happy Thanksgiving TBF Members!

From everyone at the TBF Office, we hope you all have a very nice Thanksgiving and travel safely whereever you are going! When celebrating the holiday this year, be sure to think of something you are 'thankful' for! More importantly, lets all remember the troops serving our country who are unable to spend Thanksgiving with their families this year. May God bless and protect them.

Early October, we sent out a news story about a new fundraiser available for your club with TBF Sunglasses made by Solarbat. So far we have had great feedback on this project! Here is a recap of what it is all about.

We have 3 lines of glasses for your club to choose from, Pro-Staff, Premium & Shooting Sport. You can sell them as shown on the flyers, or these glasses can be customized to any color or logo you want (minimum quantities required). If you are a school club, you could customize them in your school colors and put your logo on the side. The margin on these glasses is up to $13 per pair! [26649]

FLW Outdoors Magazine - Electronic Available Now

Just a reminder to all members updating and renewing your memberships with your clubs, there is now the option of receiving the magazine via email instead of print. What do you do with your old ones, pile them up in a corner to collect dust? There are many advantages to getting it this way such as, it saves trees, less clutter, you get it faster & is always available to you on your computer!

If you would like to receive it electronically, you MUST tell your club secretary/administrator to change your option to electronic. The online roster system automatically chooses the hard copy, not electronic.

When & why did you begin bass fishing? I’ve fished since I was about 4, but began tournament bass fishing at 13. I worked at a tackle shop and even though I was too young to compete, I used to tag along with the owner’s son to tournaments. During practice I always caught more than he did, so I convinced the tournament director to let me fish.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? Finishing 5th in the 1992 All-American. At the time I was 21. I think I was the youngest ever to qualify for an All-American at that point and I consider the 5th place an achievement, but those aspects were not why it was memorable. The memorable part was that I fished flawlessly. Tournaments where you cast perfectly, never lose a fish and are just in “the zone” are few and far between. It’s been 17 years and I still remember the way I fished in that event.

Biggest catch; when, where & how: 9-9 largemouth in November on a mill pond on a jig.

Name someone who is a hero to you & would like to meet someday? In the world of bass fishing, I have been lucky enough to meet and/or compete against all of my hero’s.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? An opportunity to go back to fishing full time.

Jim Tomsovic - Angler, Wisconsin

Full Name: James (Jim) Tomsovic

Age: 44

Hometown: Sparta, WI

State Federation: Wisconsin

Division: Northern

Occupation: Air Traffic Controller

Family: Cheryl (wife), 3 girls- Torey, Emily, Avery

When & why did you begin bass fishing? Started bass fishing seriously in the early 80's growing up in San Diego, CA.  Loved the thrill of the hunt so to speak...me against a wild animal. I was also attracted to the gear, lures, etc needed to chase those green and brown beasts.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? This is obviously it!!!!

Biggest catch; when, where & how: 11lb 12oz largemouth, 1981, Lake Hodges (San Diego, CA), caught on a live crawdad

Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it? No luck charms. I may be a little overboard when it comes to my off the water preparation for a fishing trip, be it a tourney or just a fun day out on the water..just ask my wife. Those little green and brown fish consume me sometimes.

Name someone who is a hero to you or would like to meet someday? My wife is my hero...I don't know how she puts up with me sometimes when it comes to this sport.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? Going up against some of the best "clubbers" in the country I can say I was the best not to mention the financial side of it.  Living the Dream, fishing the Forrest Wood Cup and All-American wouldn't be bad either!

Matt Hartman - Co-Angler, Pennsylvania

Full Name: Matt Hartman

Age: 18

Hometown: Green Point

State Federation: PA

Division: Mid- Atlantic

Occupation: Student at Penn State

When & why did you begin bass fishing? I started fishing with friends when I was about 10. Soon after I started fishing tournaments in order to learn more about the sport.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? Finishing fourth at The TBF National Guard Jr. World Championship

Biggest catch; when, where & how:  7.2lb largemouth, Potomac River while pre-fishing

Do you have a good luck charm or certain thing you do when it comes to fishing? If so, what is it? I believe being the youngest angler at a high level is very intimidating to most competitors.

Name someone who is a hero to you or would like to meet someday? My older brother Brandon is my hero.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? It would really kick my career into an even higher level and I’m going to do my best to win, but if I don’t I’m really just proud to have made it so far.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? Making top 10 cut in FLW Series event at Lake Havasu

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? It would mean everything to me. The “Living the Dream” package would open a lot of doors for me in the future.
