2012 TBF and FLW Adult Membership Renewals

The Bass Federation is striving to make membership renewal easier each year. Starting October 1, 2011 TBF will begin accepting membership renewals for 2012. Current memberships expire on December 31, 2011* and you can update as early as October 1 to ensure your club maintains the insurance policy coverage and your members don’t have a lapse in tournament eligibility or magazine delivery.

We will continue to collect both TBF and FLW Outdoors membership updates through TBF and through our online roster management system. The secure website is www.tbfwebservices.com. TBF dues are $15 and have been since 2000. FLW dues will remain at $35. Our system WILL collect $50 for both - PLEASE VERIFY YOUR MEMBER'S CORRECT ADDRESSES BEFORE UPDATING THEM.

ALL TBF members MUST pay their FLW dues through their home TBF club and will be charged for both memberships. FLW Outdoor’s will NOT accept dues from a TBF member. NOTICE: due to publication issues and other items FLW Outdoor memberships now run one year from date of purchase. So getting your dues in through your club to TBF will simplify your entire clubs process and help keep your TBF expiration and your FLW Expiration dates the same, Dec 31.
It is important NOT to wait as tournament participation and eligibility may be affected especially if you have members who fish BFL’s or other FLW events. Get their dues into TBF early so you won’t have any “last minute” hurdles. REGARDLESS THE TBF SYSTEM WILL COLLECT $50 FROM EVERY MEMBER. If a member has joined FLW “around” their club they can either call FLW for a refund or we will simply extend their FLW membership out another year from that date.

PLEASE PAY THE EXACT AMOUNT LISTED ON THE SYSTEM GENERATED INVOICE.

Frequently Asked Questions, (FAQ’s)

  • FLW Outdoor’s said I had to join through TBF? YES, FLW Outdoors won’t sell a membership to a TBF member; their system “talks” to our system and identifies TBF members. All TBF members now update through our online system, through their club roster. Get it done early to avoid expiration lapse!
  • What if I’m already active with FLW for multiple years or one of the few FLW life members? Lifetime members won’t be charged. Everyone else will have a year added to their current FLW membership.
  • My FLW membership doesn’t expire until April 1, 2012 do I have to pay for a full year? Yes, but you will receive another full year as long as you update before it expires; we will add a year to extend your membership through April 1, 2013.
  • I used to buy a 2 or 3 year “discounted” FLW membership? FLW Outdoors no longer sells a DISCOUNTED 2 or 3 year membership.
  • More questions? Call the national office at 580.765.9031

Now that dual membership is as easy as joining your club, here is another CHOICE for you.
What do you do with your FLW Outdoor’s Magazines after your done reading? Do you put them in a stack to collect dust? Or maybe you throw them out or keep them in a box? Maybe you donate them to a group home or a youth program for others to enjoy. Maybe you’d like to “store” them but don’t have the place or space. You have another option. - Printed or Electronic!

  • It’s your choice. The system will DEFAULT to PRINTED via US Mail. If you want to keep a printed copy, that’s fine! You have your own reason why that’s good for you. Just make sure your club administrator knows your choice so he/she can mark it when updating your roster. But…for the rest; here are a few advantages of having it delivered right to your computer!
  • Get news faster…and worldwide! You don’t have to wait; you get the exact same thing by email, instantly!
  • GO GREEN! Green is “in”; save paper, save trees! Conservation is one of TBF’s core values. Get the same info, without the paper. NO more magazines in landfills or in the corner collecting dust, but saved on your computer!
  • Easy Access – FLW Outdoor’s electronic version will be available on FLWOutdoors.com 24/7. Also, you can save the *pdf file to your computer, take it anywhere on a laptop, print out a page you want to save, and look back at old issues any time. Also, you don’t have to tear your house upside down, or worry someone threw it away!
  • What this means for club presidents/secretaries - When updating your roster, there’s an option to choose for each member. IT WILL DEFAULT TO PRINTED via US Mail. If you choose Electronic for a member, they must have an email address in our system. FLW will be notified by TBF which they request, and will send FLW Outdoor’s Magazine the way they want it!

Bonnema, Team Minnesota Take 2011 TBF Northern Division Trophies

Sept. 9, 2011, Brainerd, Minn. – Three days of near perfect weather plus three days of near perfect fishing makes Minnesota Federation Angler, Scott Bonnema the 2011 TBF Northern Division Overall Champion, as well as the Cabela’s Angler Cash and Ranger Cup Bonus winner. Bonnema was in the lead every day of the tournament and finishes the tournament with 45lbs even.

“Fishing today was really good first thing this morning. I caught 4 or 5 good ones, and got to take a deep breath. I was fishing in 8-10 ft of cabbage, flippin a Terminator jig with a chigger x craws, black and brown jigs with a natural color crawfish. When they grabbed on, they held on to it. I used a brand new 2012 Terminator spinner bait from terminator, ¾ oz that I fished in 8’ of water with,” said Bonnema. With nearly every angler catching 5-fish limits every day, there wasn’t a lot of differences in weights. “I stayed with a pattern, practiced hard and found the deeper fish. I managed my fish well, I would get 2-3 good fish off each spot.” Bonnema will be headed back to the TBF National Championship as a boater. Read More

“During practice we were flipping with a Speed Worm and today we switched to a Senko to try and draw more subtle bites because the lake,” he said. “This cold front that came through this week really put a hurtin’ on the fish, so we tried to get as many bites as we could. We knew it was going to be tough so we went ahead and switched to more sublte baits and that worked out pretty well for us.” Read More
