What has it taken for you to get this far in your fishing career? This is my second year in a row representing NY at nationals. It has been an awesome road to get here. My father has owned and operated a guide service and fishing lodge for 33 years. I owe most of my fishing knowledge to him. In 2001 I drove an FLW camera boat and soon after I joined my local bass club. I have been hooked on tournament fishing ever since. I started fishing as a co-angler in bigger tournaments and fished as many club tournaments as I could, learning something new every time.

What has it taken for you to get this far in your fishing career? Four years ago I started studying bass fishing and not just “fun fishing”. I sold the family “fish-n-ski” and bought my first bass boat and look around for a local bass club. That decision put me in Marietta Bass Masters with some very good fishermen. Fishing with, listening too and watching these guys has been the biggest factor in my growth as a bass fisherman. I also fished the FLW Stren trail in 2009. I learned a lot from that experience. Lastly, I credit “TOW” (Time On the Water). I spend a great deal of time on the water. I enjoy every second I spend on the water!

Family Members: Wife: Linda; Daughter: Anne Marie and granddaughter Katelyn; Son: Jake
Fishing Strengths/Techniques: jigs and soft plastics/ shallow or deep water cranking
Favorite body of water to fish: Born and raised near Dale Hollow Lake, but Kentucky Lake has it all.
What has it taken for you to get this far in your fishing career? My Grandfather “Pa Brown” was an avid fisherman on Dale Hollow Lake and I guess I inherited the desire to fish from him. I’ve fished in the Tennessee Bass Federation since 1988 and only missed two state tournaments (that I remember). Spending lots of time on the water with other anglers, and fishing every chance my work and family would allow, has been paramount. I can’t say enough about all the excellent help I’ve received from the Tennessee Federation Officers, Directors, and sponsors over the years. And then there’s the “Luck Factor”, without it lots of fish wouldn’t get a photo opportunity, or a chance to take a boat ride with me.

Mike Keller - NJ Angler

Hometown: Newton, NJ
State Federation: New Jersey
Division: Mid-Atlantic
