Education Outside the Classroom through Faculty Writings
Are there many quieter places than a college campus during the summertime? In a matter of a few weeks, what was once a bustling hub of scholarship and fellowship is almost entirely emptied of students and faculty. In the wake of all the activity that swirls around the end of the school year, the relative quiet that follows draws a stark contrast.
But don’t be fooled. The very fact that our campus is quiet reflects a different kind of busyness – a different level of activity that will pay huge dividends when the students return in the fall.
It’s true that for our faculty, summer brings a welcome respite from the daily business of the semester. However, that respite, in fact, paves the way for something else. For our professors, summer is usually the time to pursue other ministry opportunities. For example, nearly every summer some of them can be found working on writing projects for their classes or for a wider reading audience.
In this
Master's Moment, two books recently published by TMC professors are highlighted for your encouragement. Dr. Steven Boyd brings a biblical understanding to the timing of the Genesis flood, while Dr. Gregg Frazer investigates the religious beliefs of America’s founders…were they Christians? Were they Deists? Or what? (Hear Dr. Frazer being interviewed by Dr. Albert Mohler of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary).
We trust that you will enjoy the fruit of our faculty efforts that take place outside the classroom. Their books and articles provide life-changing information for many who never experience the opportunity to even visit The Master's College. Their giftedness in scholarship and commitment is a wonderful reflection of what makes this college such a vibrant place to learn.
Yours for the Master,
Bob White
