Update from the President |
Greetings! As we enter the second quarter of 2023, the combustion community is active and thriving. This newsletter contains a record number of events and announcements. By now many of you have heard about the modifications being made to the review process for the 40th International Symposium. After significant consultation and review, the Program Co-Chairs, in conjunction with the Executive Committee of The Combustion Institute, have revised the selection and processing of symposium submissions.
The changes are motivated by the desire to maintain the high quality of accepted submissions, while accommodating an increasing number of submissions and broadening the scope of materials at the symposium. These adjustments will also allow for greater participation from industry and other underrepresented groups. More information is available in the recently published Call for Papers.
The local planning committee is busy scouting the final venues for the meeting events. Efforts are being made to provide various pre-meeting workshops and events. A recent visit to the convention center confirms the site is a great venue to accommodate our members and presentations. Milan offers something for everyone, from traditional to modern, in architecture, art, food, and more.
We offer congratulations to our newest Fellows of The Combustion Institute, as well as the two recipients of the Hiroshi Tsuji Early Career Researcher Award. For more information on these achievements, past and upcoming events, and more, read on.
