Tipping Paint Gallery sponsored a juried exhibition of contemporary still lifes. Michelle Harrell of the North Carolina Museum of Art was the juror. The exhibition will open First Friday, February 1 with a reception from 6:00pm – 9:30pm and run through February 24.

TPG Members in the VAE Auction and Gala


Molokini Reef
Allen Clapp's work Molokini Reef was juried into the Visual Art Exchange For the Love of Art Auction and Gala live auction. Molokini is a half-submerged caldera located in the sparkling waters between Maui, Kahoolawe, and Lanai.
  
Works by LInda Eddins, Susan Jones, and Rick Bennett will be in the silent auction. The auction is February 2 at the Raleigh Marriot City Center.

Painting North Carolina - A Visual Journey

Eight of Lori White's paintings have been included in Kimberlee Maselli's new book titled Painting North Carolina - A Visual Journey.  The book will soon be available at local bookstores, galleries (including TPG), and museums and through Amazon.  Check out the blog post to find out more.










Watercolor Classes with Rick Bennett
Let Go of the Stuff that Weighs You Down

Continuing Watercolor is a new Tuesday night class for artists with some basic watercolor skills who are looking to move forward. Topics will include composition and use of color, with an emphasis on assisted individual painting.

Rick will be teaching a new session of Be ginning Watercolor, which will cover all
the basics with an emphasis on brush work and mastering the media.

Lori has two paintings in the GMA exhibition Paint NC, A Visual Journey through North CarolinaThe opening reception will be on Friday, February 22 from 6-8 PM at 802 S. Evans Street, Greenville, NC. The work will be on display through April 29.

Lee Ball is busy preparing for her March TPG solo show, What's the Story, a show that invites viewers to find the artist's narrative and/or create their own from eclectic interpretations found in the artist's world.

B'rer Rabbit

Susan Jones' Anthropomorphic Series will be on display at the United Arts Council for the month of February.

 

Cow Parade


February 2 is the date for UNC Children's Hospital's annual Gala. The wonderful cows from NC Cow Parade are being auctioned to raise money for the Children's Hospital. If you can't make the Gala, some of the cows are being auctioned online. Lee Ball and Susan Jones' cow, Wi-Fi Cow Spot, is part of the online auction. 









New Work at TPG for February


Haleakala Spring
Allen Clapp's Haleakala Spring is a celebration of the flowers and sparkling waters of Maalea Bay, Maui, Hawaii where Haleakala meets the surf and cactus is used for cattle fences.








Seyval Blanc and Globe
TPG members have created some still lifes to complement the juried show.  This is Lori's oil titled Seyval Blanc and Globe.
