Farmers' markets are full of good food, plants and people and the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh is no exception. From fresh produce to old-fashioned candy, spring planting to Christmas greenery, our Farmer's Market flourishes year round. Amid all the activity is a world full of color and texture. Susan's beautifully hand colored photographs document the magnitude of goodness that is North Carolina grown. Through cropping and careful application of color, Susan builds on the farmers' artistic vision, presenting each food as a work of art.  Susan's s
how runs May 3 - June 1.

Raku Sculpture by Margaret Griffin

"I made my first penguin as part of a "Stargazer" series.

Attitude Penguin
I found the creature's black and white schematic to be so perfectly suited to raku crakle glaze, which I love, that I was driven to make another just to see the crackle spread across it's chest. Then I realized that the penguin, standing on two legs, wearing his tux, takes on a human appearance and can reflect human characteristics, becoming a sort of benign mirror of our own attitudes.  Hence, my "Attitude Penguin" series began, and continues into its third year.- Margaret Griffin

Spirit Lake
Spirit Lake

"When Mt. Saint Helens blew its top, it obliterated one of the neatest places on our planet: Spirit Lake. But like the forest that went down, the indomitable spirit of its people and the lake itself have sprung back with increased vigor." - Allen Clapp

Lori White, Linda Eddins, and Rick Bennett at the Local Color Plein Air Paint Out

Un Pollo Grande
Un Pollo Grande
Rick, Linda, and Lori participated in LCG's annual Plein Air Paint Out on April 13. Rick turned in Un Pollo Grande at the end of the day, delighted to find one of his favorite subjects to paint and knowing that the other painters would be focusing on more traditional subject matter.  Dos Taquitos restaurant's patio is filled with fun objects from a derelict Volkswagon Van to this giant metal chicken.

Lori painted Snoopy's, a landmark eatery on the corner of Glenwood and Hillsborough.  After painting she enjoyed one of their all beef franks and seasoned fries.

The paint out was LInda's first attempt at plein air painting.  She loved it, so expect to see her painting scenes all over North Carolina.

Local Color Gallery will have a show of all the plein air paintings in May.

Tipping Paint Gallery Artists Celebrate The Road Taken

"Two roads diverged...( and we - we) took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." - Robert Frost

One year ago, seven artists came together, left the safety of the known to follow their dream and have never looked back. It has been an incredible journey; a period of growth and renewal. Come celebrate with us the spirit of our new home, Downtown Raleigh, through an exhibition of work inspired by our travels. TPG's artists have created unique views of familiar landmarks.  Share with us in all that is Raleigh.
