True Hope Churches & Ministries

Volume 2
April 29, 2011

Hello,
Thank you for being a faithful part of True Hope Ministries!  Since 2002 we have been faithful to God's purposes, plans and priorities for this ministry as we have been given understanding as to what His mission and vision for us to be.
Right at three years ago now, God put on our hearts that for a number of reasons, we will be relocating to Southwest Missouri.  This year that is becoming reality!  As He always does, God has been divinely and dynamically moving in our situation and guiding our steps to bring this about and it is so exciting to see everything come together as only He can accomplish!
The General Secretary of True Hope Churches & Ministries will maintain the Arkansas ministry services throughout the transition process so there should be no interruption of any member or ministry services.
True Hope Bible Institute will also continue to be based in Arkansas until we are approved as an Exempt Religious College by the Missouri Board of Higher Education.
We may change some of our weekly activities during this transition period but if we do we will certainly keep you informed ahead of time!
Thank you for your prayers and thank you also for your faithful support to help us during this transition time!

Many Blessings!

Dr. Timothy and Glenda; Cheryl, C.J. and Ken!

TRUE HOPE TIMES

SUCCESSFUL
SPIRITUAL
STRATEGIES
  INTRODUCTION

Jesus wants two things for our souls ... First - to be healthy and Second, to prosper!  So this brings out the question - - IS YOUR SOUL PROSPERING?

Perhaps another way to ask this question is to state it this way - - Is the face you show others a true and genuine reflection of your spiritual well being or is the face you put on a disguise to keep others from seeing a soul in spiritual distress or even spiritual disaster & defeat?  This is a study for understanding how to experience victory in the spiritual warfare in which we are engaged; not just to experience victories in certain battles, but that consistent victory becomes our reality in the realm of spiritual warfare!

Much has been taught on the subject of spiritual warfare over the years, some teachings are really sound and correct leading to a life of consistent victory and liberty from the dominion of sin.  Unfortunately there are many more teachings that have been and are being introduced into the church community that are erroneous at best - - or downright deceptions at the worst!

Even more unfortunately the errant teachings are made popular by celebrity status “ministers” - - many of whom do not even write the material “sold” under their name!  Because of their celebrity status, because of effective marketing strategies, and because many supernatural seekers in the churches are attracted to the latest “revelation” on the subject, the errant teachings are ushered in to the churches, endorsed by local leaders who don’t know the answers and because of multitudes of saints living in secret defeat who are crying out for something – anything that will “work” one errant teaching on spiritual warfare after another is embraced by untold hosts of saints in hopes of changing their realities from failure to success!

What is the one big difference between the popular failures and the overlooked successful tactics that this study will be revealing in the realm of spiritual success?

BIBLE BASICS!  Learning andA establishing a sure foundation of Truth will produce more spiritual success than learning all of the so-called “deeper truths” and “hidden mysteries now revealed” that are the mainstay of the popular books, tapes and DVD’s!  What possible good does it do to reveal a “hidden mystery” if we are not properly applying the basic truths already revealed?

With that said, much of what will be brought forth in this study will be resisted and denounced by many in certain circles of the church community!  Whenever the enemy is being exposed he always dispatches his agents in the form of critics to make the most hideous noises and outcries intended to trade on the fears of the saints who are in the clutches of defeat!

The last thing that the devil wants to happen in the life of a saint is for him/her to suddenly discover that there is a “plan of war” that DOES work and that WILL deliver the saints from the clutches of the satanic snares of discouraging, depressing and desperate defeat!

The devil will begin to scream out hitting your thoughts with ideas like “if you change from what you have been doing, you will never gain success and victory!” or, “that is not what you have been taught by well known and powerful men ‘of God’ – where does this ‘new’ teaching come from?”

Well let us just use some divine logic for a moment to respond to the enemy’s reactions:  If you are actually living in defeat now, how long have you been using the tactics you were taught so long ago and have they led to your freedom from the dominion of sin … or how many “new revelations” have you been taught that give you no better results than the previous teachings?  Have you just resigned yourself to the present reality that “this” or “these” sins are in your life and the best you can hope for is to control their power and keep it all hidden from those closest to you and certainly from the rest of the Church?

Take heart!  Your deliverance is at hand!  Over the next few issues of the True Hope Times you will discover – or more likely re-discover those basic Bible strategies that will finally produce spiritual success that is consistent and the results are lasting!  Finally!  Freedom from the miserable cycle of sin – regret – resolving to change – repeating the sin again!

Next issue - - God’s design for our success!

In Christ & With His Love,
Dr. Timothy

PROPHET'S CORNER
1.  Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,
 2.  not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
 3.  Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first ...

Many Born-Again Christians Hold Universalist Views, Barna Finds

One in four born-again Christians hold universalist thoughts when it comes to salvation, according to a new Barna analysis of trend data.

Twenty-five percent of born-again Christians said all people are eventually saved or accepted by God. A similar proportion, 26 percent, said a person’s religion does not matter because all faiths teach the same lessons.

And an even higher proportion, 40 percent, of born-again Christians said they believe Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

Barna defined universalism as the belief that all human beings will eventually be saved after death. The California-based research and polling firm defines born-again Christians as people who have made “a personal commitment to Jesus Christ that is still important in their life today, and who believe they will go to heaven after death because they confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.

According to the Barna analysis, 43 percent of Americans in general agreed with the statement “It doesn’t matter what religious faith you follow because they all teach the same lessons,” while 54 percent disagreed.

The report on what Americans believe about universalism and pluralism comes at a time when not only evangelicals, but even prominent secular media, are debating the Christian teachings on salvation and the idea of universalism due to Pastor Rob Bell’s book, Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived.

Last week, Time magazine released its Easter Week feature with a cover story on Bell’s controversial views contained in his new book.

For many evangelicals, the idea of Christians holding universalist ideas is particularly disturbing because it nullifies the need for Christ to die on the cross and the message of Jesus that he is the only way, truth and life.

Various research firms have reported different data on the prevalence of universalist beliefs among born-again believers and more specifically, evangelicals.

A 2008 Pew Forum survey revealed that 57 percent of evangelicals agreed with the idea that other religions than their own can lead to eternal life. After tweaking the definition of "evangelical," however, LifeWay Research, found that only two out of 10 evangelicals agreed with the statement that eternal life can be obtained through religions other than Christianity.

While universalism is nothing new, some believe cultural trends are placing pressure on Christians and their beliefs.

Don Carson, research professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, said at The Gospel Coalition’s national conference last week that many are feeling pressure from the culture "to find universalism attractive."

"There are pressures in our culture to reduce the truth content of Scripture and then simply dismiss people by saying that they're intolerant or narrow-minded ... or bigoted without actually engaging the truth question at all. And that is really sad and in the long haul, horribly dangerous."

Barna’s analysis on beliefs regarding universalism and pluralism is based on data from telephone interviews conducted in the OmniPollSM and from Barna Group’s theolographic TM database from 2005 through 2011.
