The
TRUE HOPE TIMES
September 21, 2012
Greetings from True Hope!
Greetings!

It's that time of year (one of two actually) again!

You know, when all the nationally and internationally famous media ministries come out with their "Praise-A-Thon" or, "Share-A-Thon" - - - - well why don't they just call it what it is, "Give-Us-Your-Money-A-Thon"!

Now to be fair, I do believe that there are Christian media ministries, or Christian Ministries that use media in the work and to the glory of God and I do believe in supporting those ministries financially.

But PLEASE don't get sucked in to what are nothing more than confidence games in the disguise of "ministry" just so that the perpetrators can continue being celebrities and living luxurious lifestyles!

Without naming names of perpetrators here, let me just share the seductive tactics that will help you identify those ministries that are questionable at best and charlatans at worst!
  1. GOD WILL BLESS YOU "XXXXXX-FOLD" in return for your giving!
  2. GOD WILL PERFORM FINANCIAL MIRACLES in return for your giving!
  3. GOD WILL HEAL YOUR MARRIAGE/FAMILY in return for your giving!
  4. GOD WILL SAVE YOUR LOVED ONES in return for your giving!
  5. GOD WILL FREE YOU FROM DEBT in return for your giving!
Here are some other major red flags that should warn you away from supporting a certain ministry or so-called Christian media . . .
  • IF YOU PROMISE (prayerfully of course) TO GIVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT then God will make certain that you have that amount to give!
  • STRETCH YOUR FAITH!  Promise to give more than you have ever given before and watch the miracles of God in your money situation!
  • GIVE A FAITH TITHE!  Pledge an amount that would equal 10% of the money you want God to bring into your life in the coming year and since you have already paid that tithe, HE MUST PROVIDE THE GROSS AMOUNT OF FINANCES!
Many years ago I was sucked in, year after year by these same schemes until I heard the last one on the above list, declared to the audience by a minister whom I had revered and trusted for many years - - but was in direct, diametric opposition to God's Word!  According to 2 Corinthians 8, God wants us to give out of the abundance we already have and to give according to what we have, not make a promise to give from what we do not have!

Sadly, men and women who are skillful at handling God's Word with a carnal mind that they can almost make every promise sound spiritually logical!  That is, they are skilled at the spiritual con games and to repeatedly get your money from you while you keep waiting, year after year, for the promised multiplied returns!

Hey gang, READ GOD'S WORD!  Don't be taken in by their craftiness!

HOW TO TELL THE SPIRITUAL FROM THE CARNAL - -

Simple!  (God's ways are always simple - uncomplicated!)

The ministries that simply say something to the effect of:  "We need your help to do the work, please give!"

These are probably the right ones to invest your finances in!

The ministries that simply report on the effectiveness and the SPIRITUAL results in the lives of the people they are ministering to (not how the supporters are blessed), you know like - "in the last six months we have delivered XXXXX Bibles, or we have helped XXXX people call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation; you know things like that - - these are probably the right ones to invest your finances in!

When I was quite young in Christ, I heard a radio minister make one plea for supporters and it went something like this:  "The future of this ministry is up to the Lord.  If you give sufficient funds then we will remain able to perform this radio ministry program.  If you do not give enough funds, we will not be able to continue this ministry program.  Now for today's message .........."  One month later, he was no longer on the radio!  Guess what, the Lord had something else for him to do!

All I am saying is to heed the admonitions of our Lord:
  • 2 Corinthians 8:1-2 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
  •  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.  1 Thes.5
If you are going to financially support a ministry, exercise discernment and wisdom and then support that/those ministries who appear to truly be seeking to glorify our Heavenly Father!
MANY BLESSINGS!

SOURCES
of FEAR
Part One

Why do people fear?  According to some in ministry, fear - all fear - is from and of and by the devil!

But is that the TRUTH?
Remember, it is only by the TRUTH that is in God's Word that will set us free!

Actually there are several sources of fear, or perhaps it is better said that there are several channels of fear and we need to know which channel is tuned in to determine the correct way to respond.

First:  Natural fear.  This is the fear that is a protective mechanism that, when maintained in proper balance, is both proper and positive!  Think about it:  If your body smells smoke when you are asleep - but you have no fear - you will most likely die in the house fire!  That natural fear causes you to awaken and take protective steps to survive!  At the same time, you get out of the house and realize that your children are still inside, that same fear will cause you to charge into the flames to rescue your family!  The fear of losing the lives of loved ones replaces the fear of losing your own life and so you act in a positive manner!
  • Natural is a Divine Design for humanity and thus is a God-given attribute of the human design - - NOT of or from or by the devil!  Of course as with all things of God, the devil will do all he can to distort and pervert natural fear so that it becomes a source of bondage and a weapon against us!
Second:  Carnal Fear.  This is fear that is "manufactured" by human nature and is the cause of emotional, social and often financial problems!  Carnal fear causes one spouse to be insanely jealous of the other!  Carnal fear causes a person to be paranoid that his subordinate is "after his job" or that his supervisor is "out to fire him"!  Carnal fear causes a person to be overly focused on being the most popular child in school or in the neighborhood!
  • Carnal Fear is a product of the human psyche (soul) and comes from having no source of true security or safe keeping!  Carnal Fear is the result of a person trying to do what only the Lord can do - - to be God!  The person knows that he/she cannot control his/her own world and so in trying what they know will be failure, become both:  Fearful and more intent on doing what they can only fail at!  Carnal Fear demands appeasing by the use of material/financial/physical satisfactions, which are so temporary it becomes a constant pursuit of desperation!  Carnal Fear is what the devil uses against a person, whispering into the mind things like:  "His ministry is getting more recognition than yours, better do something to get noticed!" or, "Your wife is looking at that same guy every time you come to the store, you had better do something about it!" or, "Your wife's, sister's, mother's, brother's, son's, wife's, father worked in a smoke filled factory and got cancer - - and you were in a smoky restaurant last year and now you are going to get cancer and die!"

Many blessings!

PROPHET'S CORNER

"But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall"
1 Corinthians 10:5-12

What Is ‘Chrislam’ & Why Are Its Followers Merging Christian & Islamic Theology?

http://www.theblaze.com

Christianity and Islam are the world’s two largest religions. With 2.18 billion Christians and 1.6 billion Muslims the world-round, it’s safe to say that these two faith systems impact, to a profound extent, social and political events occurring in diverse societies.

But what about “Chrislam,” the controversial belief system that combines both traditions to form its own fascinating religious brand?

While you may not be aware of its existence, this controversial faith system has small pockets of adherents in parts of Africa and has garnered a plethora of intrigue — and scrutiny — here in the United States.

On the surface, the notion that the two faiths would be able to mesh successfully seems next-to-impossible. After all, Christianity relies upon the central notion that Jesus is the only way one can attain eternal salvation.

To the contrary, Muslims don‘t believe that Christ was God’s son, nor do they accept the notion that he perished on a cross to save humanity’s sins, thus creating a debacle when it comes to rectifying the faith’s central underpinnings (watch a full PBS special about Chrislam here).

Understanding Chrislam hinges upon examining its leader’s motivations for creating and sustaining the merged faith. Beliefnet examines this, noting that Shamsuddin Saka, a religious leader in Nigeria, is seeking to bridge the religious divide and to bring together Muslims and Christians like never before. In a region where deadly tensions between adherents of the two faiths regularly erupt, Saka is on a unique mission.

Saka, who was born a Muslim but is now a Christian at heart, claims that he felt called by God to launch his Chrislam ministry following a pilgrimage to Mecca, a commanded voyage that is one of Islam’s Five Pillars (read our extensive historical account of Islam here).

The faith leader takes the unique approach of preaching about the common roots that peoples of both faiths share (i.e. that they are both children of Abraham, both promote peace, etc.).

He told Public Radio International (PRI) that God told him to “make peace between Christian and Muslim,” thus he has sought to embark on that very mission.

While Saka experienced this revelation, the seeds for his journey were likely set at an early age, as he was reportedly influenced by both faith systems when he was a young boy.

His father, a herbalist, saw Christians and Muslims, alike, for healing, so both traditions were common fixtures in his early existence. While Saka now sees himself as a believer in Jesus Christ, he told The Christian Science Monitor that it doesn’t “mean Islam is bad.” The outlet goes on to describe the ministry that Saka has built, in detail:

At first, it seems a surprising sight: inside a two-story mosque in sub-Saharan Africa’s largest metropolis hangs a life-size portrait of Jesus Christ.

Yet worshipers at “The True Message of God Mission” say it’s entirely natural for Christianity and Islam to cexist, even overlap. They begin their worship by praying at the Jesus alcove and then “running their deliverance” – sprinting laps around the mosque’s mosaic-tiled courtyard, praying to the one God for forgiveness and help. They say it’s akin to Israelites circling the walls of Jericho – and Muslims swirling around the Ka’ba shrine in Mecca.

This group – originally called “Chris-lam-herb” for its mix-and-match approach to Christianity, Islam, and traditional medicine – is a window on an ongoing religious ferment in Africa.

It’s still up for debate whether this group, and others like it, could become models for Muslim-Christian unity worldwide or whether they’re uniquely African. But either way, they are “part of a trend,” says Dana Robert, a Boston University religion professor.

To facilitate this trend, Saka does more than merely keep a Koran and a Bible in his house of worship. For the past two (by some accounts four) decades that Chrislam has been around, Saka has preached from both holy books to a congregation that houses 1,500 seats. He uses Christian and Muslim worship songs and, for maximim impact, his sermons are shown on local television.

Saka is revered by his followers, as they call him “His Royal Holiness,“ ”The Messenger“ and ”Ifeoluwa” (or “The Will of God).

Sunday morning services begin with Koranic prayer, PRI reports. While Islamic invocations are uttered, the outlet also notes that the environment is reminiscent of a Pentecostal church service. Saka also preaches about the common elements inherent in both Islam and Christianity.

There does seem to be a bit of debate surrounding who actually founded Chrislam (hence the central question surrounding how long the faith has been around).

While Saka’s story is compelling, another man, named Tela Tella, claims that he came up with the idea for the faith system in the 1970s, well before Saka launched his ministry. Tela Tella’s congregation, which isn‘t far from Saka’s in terms of geographic location, has about 500 worshippers, Beliefnet notes.

Based on the numbers, Saka‘s church is much larger than Tela Tella’s, which is reportedly due to more robust recruiting activities. Most outlets that have explored Chrislam fail to mention Tela Tella, as Saka’s efforts have attracted more widespread attention.

PRI notes that the faith leader regularly reaches out to politicians and that he goes directly to areas in which religious tensions result in violence to encourage togetherness among peoples of divergent faiths. These activities would, naturally, raise his profile and bring him added attention.

While the concept of a merged faith system is appealing to some, like Saka, who seek peace, there are a multitude of leaders, particularly in the evangelical realm, who reject the central tenets of Chrislam.

On his Christian Post blog back in 2011, David Dollins wrote a piece denouncing the concept called, “Chrislam — A Spirit of Antichrist.”

In it, he proclaimed, “Scripture itself declares ‘Chrislam’, the mixing of Christianity and Islam, to be a Spirit of Antichrist!” Dollins continues:

For these Church leaders, who are blind watchmen, to bring Islam and the reading of the Quran into the Church is to deny the Lord himself, it is to deny who He is, and it is to deny what He accomplished at Calvary’s Cross 2,000 years ago, when He gave His life for the sins of the world!

Just as bad, it is an open acceptance of the Spirit of Antichrist, which John said will bring swift destruction and ultimately, yet sadly, the damning of the soul.

What should the Church do now? We must get back to proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation without fear of reprisal. We must defend and preach the deity of Jesus, that He is the one true God and there is no other. Then we must also boldly proclaim the Holy Scriptures, not the Quran, as the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

Faith commentator Bill Muehlenberg agrees with this assessment, calling those Christians who embrace Chrislam “misguided.” He claims that the use of a mixed-faith approach allows Muslims to enter into Christian circles in an effort to make those who do not embrace Islam “second-class citizens.”

The two faith systems, be believes, are “fully incompatible” and that their differences far outweigh their similarities. He continues:

Bringing a false religion like Islam into the Christian churches is really the beginning of the end of those Christian houses of worship.

Sure, Christians can invite a Muslim – or any other non-Christian – into a Christian service to point them to Jesus the saviour, and to expose them to the truth claims of the biblical gospel.

Effectively signing your own death warrant by foolishly seeking for some sort of theological equivalence here is not the way to go. We help no one with that approach. It simply undermines the Christian faith and does an injustice to our Muslim neighbour who desperately needs to be set free from the bondage of Islam and released into the freedom of the gospel of Christ.

“Clearly, Islam and Christianity are mutually exclusive. Both claim to be the only true way to God, but both cannot be right,” adds Christian Pastor John MacArthur. “There is no atonement in Islam, no forgiveness, no savior, and no assurance of eternal life. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of hope; Islam is a religion of hopelessness.”

NOWHERE MAN, NOWHERE LAND
“But now our appetites are gone. All we ever see is this Manna.” Numbers 11:6 (NLT)

God gave the children of Israel manna from heaven. A supernatural supply of food, yet they griped and complained.

“So the people went out and caught quail all the day and throughout the night and all the next day, too. No one gathered less than fifty bushels! They spread the quail to dry. But while they were gorging themselves on the meat – while it was still in their mouths – the anger of the Lord blazed against the people...” Numbers 11:32-33 (NLT).

God was so upset with them that He was willing to wipe them out and start all over again. From the time the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt. They griped about everything the Lord did for them. They certainly did not serve the Lord with joyfulness and gladness of heart for the abundance of all things as they were commanded in Deuteronomy 28:47.

We were created to be thankful in all things and in everything to give praise. To be depressed, discouraged, unthankful and unholy is part of the corrupted nature. In the last days perilous times shall come. Notice being unthankful is included in a long list of the signs of the end times. 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

Therefore, being thankful is not an option for the Christian who wants to be all God wants them to be. Do we have a choice? Of course, but we will never fulfill God's will in our lives the way we should if we gripe and complain along the way. That isn't how God intended us to be or His plan for us. God miraculously delivered the children of Israel and supernaturally provided for their every need. Yet, they murmured all the more. It seemed as though every time they had a trial they were wishing they were dead. So, God granted them their wish. The whole generation from twenty years old and up died in the wilderness and never entered the Promise Land. Numbers 14:27-29.

We can either be someone who gives glory and credit to God, who is thankful and humble and praises God or be a Nowhere Man living in a Nowhere Land, who falls apart in the midst of trials and the world says, “Where's their God?” Believers, our testimony is important, very important. God uses our lives to influence others.

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4 (NLT).

IS THIS "HATEFUL"??
-Andrew Strom.

I have been very surprised and shocked in the last couple of days
at all the Christians who want us to stay "silent" on the issue of
Homosexuality - and make out that it is nothing 'special' - just
any old sin. They think it makes us "look bad" to speak up about
it - judgmental and "unloving".

I think what a lot of people don't realize is that this issue is specifically being used by the devil as the "leading edge" of his agenda in the earth. He is using Homosexuality to push his religion of "secularism" massively amongst the youth. More than any single issue, this is
the devil's favorite.

Think about this for a moment. Today's Homosexual movement
is not just about "practicing" Homosexuality. They are also about "preaching" it and `converting´ the youth to embrace it as "good".

What they push is actually "spiritual" propaganda - a false gospel of 'sin-celebration' that totally undermines the Bible. We need to start seeing these activists as aggressive "preachers" of a new religion - a religion designed to totally replace Christianity.
These are some of it's most zealous 'missionaries'. And they are successfully "converting" the youth of all the earth.

The whole idea is to completely rid the planet of any sense of
what "sin" is.

You will notice that in the last 25 years there has been an enormous push in the media to "normalize" Homosexuality.

It used to be that two men kissing would make everyone want to
gag. But these activists knew that if they put sympathetic "gay" characters again and again into movies and TV shows, eventually
they would wear down the scruples of the audience. Comedies are especially helpful for this. And gradually they have "converted" an entire generation of young people to their cause. In this they have been overwhelmingly successful. It may be the greatest "propaganda" victory ever. The battle is already theirs. And they are using the media to spread it more and more around the world.

We need to start seeing gay promotions and gay TV shows, not
just as 'Homosexual' events, but also as "preaching" events. They
are designed to "convert' people - to make them 'fine' with sin - yet
"not fine" with anyone who opposes the sin. Their "preachers"
have been winning this war. It is devil take the youngest.

Because of all this "propaganda", Christians have become more
and more reluctant to call Homosexuality what the Bible clearly calls it - an "abomination". (Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:27, etc.)

Nobody ever wants to use that word any more. We are frightened
to be thought of as "unloving" or judgmental. And so more and more we let the devil define what is sin and what is not. I tell you, if we roll over on this issue, the devil will have us for breakfast - he really will. Entire generations are riding on our response.

If we let the devil define "sin" then it is over. The gospel cannot be preached when the devil defines it's terms.

There are actually very few sins that earn the title "abomination"
in God's sight - especially when it is "paraded" in the open.

Homosexuality is seen by Him as being so bad that it is often associated with "Judgment" in Scripture. We also find throughout
history that when a culture embraces Homosexuality, it is almost always very close to the end of that civilization. History shows this again and again.

One of the biggest lies, of course, is that there is some kind of "gay gene" - that people are "born with". This is completely false, and if you do a search on the Internet you will find that there has been study after study done in academic circles, with no evidence of a "gay gene" whatsoever. Not that it truly matters any more.

The 'propaganda' war is mostly won anyhow.

But let me be clear on this: It is not OK to treat 'gay' individuals with anything less than Christian love and kindness.

It is very important to go about this with the right spirit. We must always act out of love and godly wisdom. But we must also speak the TRUTH. We are not at "war" with individual 'gay' people. Quite
the opposite. But the movement and it's message - that is a different story.

There is a war going on for the hearts and minds of today's youth. We are not to fight this in the "flesh" - with politics or campaigning, etc. But we certainly are to raise our voices and to loudly "speak the truth in love". Otherwise the upcoming generation will be lost to the most powerful and clever "false gospel" of them all.

In closing, let me say that it is not "loving" to be silent.

True love warns and pleads with people not to follow the way of sin and death.

We cannot compromise on this. It is compromise that is "hateful" and leaves people stuck where they are.

Love warns, because it knows the consequences if it stays silent.

This is true mercy. So please - do not stop "speaking the truth in love", my friends. It is truly a MUST in this hour. An entire generation is at stake.
