Greetings!

As we gear up for another busy summer season, we look to the snow-capped peaks of the Tetons, Big Holes, Snake River Range and Gros Ventres and welcome the arrival of spring run-off.  With the recent warm weather, many rivers and tributaries are gaining volume and color, and look for these rivers and feeder creeks to only get bigger as the warmer days and nights press on.  With Mother's Day Caddis hatching and the Salmonflies on the Henry's Fork, and spring flushing flows being reduced on the South Fork as we speak, early season can be a great time of year to get out on the water after a long winter and experience some great fishing without the summer crowds.  Don't worry if your favorite spot is blown-out, high, or muddy; there is plenty of water to fish in our local area.  It may take a little extra planning, watching water flows and reading fishing reports, but getting to target fish, some with dry flies after a long hard winter, is not an opportunity to miss.
With our Victor, Jackson and Island Park locations now open 7 days a week, we look forward to seeing you on your next spring fishing outing.  Be sure to stop by and see our new expanded fly selection, purchase your 2009 Idaho fishing license or get up to date fishing information. With back to back plentiful winter snowpacks, the 2009 season is not to be missed!  Thanks again and we look forward to fishing with you in 2009!

Jim Hickey, Orvis Guide of the Year!

Once a year, the Orvis Company hosts all the Western Orvis
endorsed Guides together for an event to display new Orvis product, consult and educate outfitters, and distinguish those who excel in the fly fishing industry.  We are extactic to announce that WorldCast Anglers' own Jim Hickey was recognized and awarded the highest achievement, the Orvis Guide of the Year!! To be recognized as the best guide in the most competitive guiding market in the Western United States as well as the hundreds of thousands of guides in the world is truly an incredible achievement.  Jim, we thank you for all your hard work and wish you the best in 2009! Congratulations!!!

In addition to the outfitting distinction, other WCA awards included: Mike Dawes - Orvis Guide Rendezvous Casting Champion and Trevor Wine - Fly Pattern/Creation Winner. Good job Mike and Trevor!  WorldCast Anglers also presented their own web based reservation system network and database.  Thanks again to everyone at the Orvis Company for hosting such an incredible event and we look forward to the Orvis Guide Rendezvous in 2010!
Book your own fishing experience with WCAnet!
WorldCast Anglers has made it even easier to book your next fly fishing adventure, without a phone call or email.  A new element of our popular WCAnet, an online reservation network, has been opened up to the public as a quick and efficient booking tool for you and your guests.  All you need is a computer with an internet connection and you are free to reserve your dates, request certain guides, and choose river sections for your next visit (pending a WCA staff member approval). We are excited to offer this exclusive service to our clients and continue to offer you the best fly fishing experience in the Rocky Mountain West.

Requested guide's links are located on our Guide Information page, please click the link to be redirected.  Under each respective guide is a link to request a trip with that certain guide.  This will redirect you to our WCAnet client page. Please enter all the information pertinent to your inquiry: dates requested, guide requested, section of water, group size, contact information and any other important information, and a WCA staff member will review your request and create your booking.  If your guide has already been booked for that date, the network will tell you immediately and you will be prompted to choose another guide or date.  So if you find yourself in a busy airport, riding the subway or train to work, or any other no cell-phone use area, you can still get in touch with WCA and reserve your next fly fishing trip this summer.  As always, you are more than welcome to email any WCA office or call 1.800.654.0676 with any questions or reservations need.

WCA Custom Flies!!!

At WorldCast Anglers, we are serious about flies.  After all, these are the most important components of your tackle.  Fish do not care about what rod you are using or which line you are casting, but they are sure known to reject flies at a seconds notice.  With over 40 guides on the water during the peak summer months, we have taken the most important information (what is working and what is catching fish) and created our own WCA patterns to fool even those most picky and frustrating trout.  These patterns are not just specific to our area, feel free to try our custom flies your favorite freestone stream, tailwater, or spring creek.  We guarantee that your fish have never seen these colors or flies before.

Based off some of the most successful patterns, we have tweaked colors, sizes, even thread colors to what the trout want.  Pictured above is the WCA Custom Pink Tailwater bug.  We know fish in the South Fork and other tailwaters like shiny metallic patterns and mixed it with an awesome pink UV dubbing to create an effect of the ultimate tailwater trout slayer.  This is only one of the proven custom WCA patterns available to you this summer.  Feel free to stop by and check out the entire assortment.  We know you will not be able to pass on only one!

Greater Jackson Hole Fishing Report
With the arrival of spring run off, fishing in the local area is situated around a couple fisheries with clear water and hungry trout.  Don't get discouraged, incredible fishing conditions are on the way for this summer.  As the Bureau of Reclamation continues to decrease the massive spring flows of the South Fork, the river should drop into shape, as flows stabilize and water temperatures warm and offer some great spring fishing days.  With the Idaho General Fishing Season Opener (May 23rd, 2009) closed sections of the Henry's Fork (The Box Canyon and river immediately below Ashton Reservoir), as well as the Teton and Fall Rivers will open an additional hundred miles of river to fish during the next spring months.  Snake River flows from Jackson Lake Dam are expected to increase and peak at 6,000 cfs on June 8th and then gradually decrease to 3,000 cfs for the rest of the summer.  Don't forget, the YNP Fishing season also opens on May 23rd, 2009.  The Firehole should be in prime shape for opening day and WorldCast Anglers is a Yellowstone National Park Outfitter permitee.

Our current conditions webpage hosts all the weather, water flows and reservoir information reported for all the major drainages in our region.  Combined with our updated online fishing reports, we can provide you with the most up-to-date fishing conditions in our local area.  We are receiving new fishing reports daily, so feel free to call any of our locations or send us an email about  where to fish in the Jackson Hole/Teton Valley area.

At WorldCast Anglers, we pride ourselves on providing an unsurpassed level of angling service.  We strive to help our clients leave our waters with the memories and knowledge that last a lifetime. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help make your next fly-fishing adventure a dream come true. Tight Lines!!!

Sincerely,

The WorldCast Anglers Team
