Greetings!

We hope this newsletter finds everyone doing well and enjoying the spring season.  The summer will be here before we know it, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone this summer season.  We will continue to receive more precipitation through the spring months.  With the current snowpack and all the water saved up from the previous winters, our fishing season will begin earlier this year and a forecasted runoff in the more "normal" range.  The South Fork fish population has grown to that of the mid 1980s, please see the article below.  The Henry's Fork continues to shine during these spring months.  This all correlates to great fishing and water conditions for this upcoming summer and fall fishing season.  Fishing has been great this time of year, so don't forget to check out our fishing reports webpage as well as the WorldCast Anglers fly fishing blog for the most up-to-date fishing information in the Jackson Hole / Teton Valley area.

The South Fork and Henry's Fork rivers have offered some great days on the water during this wonderful spring season.  Some run-off has started on the Snake and Teton River.  Nymphing has been the most productive fishing method; however, the Baetis, March Brown, Caddis and spring stoneflies have shown us some awesome dry-fly fishing days.  Winter flows on the South Fork averaged around 3,000 cfs, double the normal winter flow, and reservoir draw down actions have already been implemented to accommodate this year's runoff.  Currently the South Fork is flowing at 10,000 cfs.  Everything is shaping up for an incredible summer season!  As always, stop by any of our locations, give us a call (800.654.0676) or send us an email if you have any questions about our trip offerings, fly fishing equipment or general fly fishing needs.  Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you this winter this winter season!

$50 off all trips until May 15th!!!
South Fork Cutthroat

Old man winter has released his grasp on the Jackson Hole/Teton Valley areas, and spring has been welcomed in full force.  Most all of the snow has melted from the valley, and boat ramps are open.  The Henry's Fork is now offering some good fishing with hatches of March Browns, Baetis and Mothers Day Caddis.  Unlike last season, the winter outdoor gear has been stowed away, and fishing has taken the priority.  What a great start to the season, where water has been saved up from our previous two winters to confirm that our rivers will be full of water again this year.
For 2012, WorldCast Anglers again will be offering all our full and half day trips at a $50 discount until May 15th!  Float trips are offered on the Henry's Fork, South Fork and Snake Rivers.  We are also offering our famous "Brown Bag Special" for these preseason trips; bring your own lunch, and we will take an additional $20.00 off the cost of the already discounted trip.  That is a total savings of $70!  These trips include everything that our normal trips do, so don't miss out on some great early season fishing trips at a great discounted rate!  Contact WorldCast Anglers at (800) 654-0676 for booking questions and more information on these early season fly fishing opportunities!
2012 - The Year of the South Fork of the Snake!!!

We all know and love the South Fork of the Snake.  Whether it be its famous hatches of Salmonflies or PMDs, the native cutthroats that love to eat dry flies or its majestic canyon walls, the South Fork of the Snake river is a river that we all hold close to our hearts.  With the recent rainbow trout explosion, its native fish populations suffered.  With the abnormal high flows of the previous seasons, the South Fork was acting as if it had been missing something.  Everything has changed for the better, and 2012 is the year to fish the South Fork.  Fish surveys conducted by the Idaho Fish and Game showed that the fish populations in the South Fork are at their second highest since the mid 1980s.  No joke, proof can be found in this Idaho Fish and Game article.  Cutthroat numbers are on the rebound, and brown trout numbers have also increased.  “ Our estimates are pointing to good fishing to be had this year,” are the exact words from Brett High, regional fisheries biologist for Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

Water plays an important role in this process as well.  After the previous season's monstrous snowpacks, plenty of water has been stored in Palisades Reservoir for seasons to come.  Over this winter, we saw double the normal discharge flow in the South Fork.  Recruitment of juvenile fish will be high, and the river system is full of water to help support, nurture and grow this new robust trout population.  Factor in a normal snowpack from this winter, and the South Fork is going to be better than we have seen it in the past couple of years.  Our season will start early this year; most snow has already burned off the valley floor, and WCA guides have already been on the water working and getting ready for this exciting season to come.  Think of it as the perfect storm for an excellent fishing season, most notably on the South Fork of the Snake!!!  As always, feel free to email us, give us a call at 800.654.0676, or stop by any of our locations with any questions you have or to set up your South Fork of the Snake float trip or overnight adventure during this potential epic year of the South Fork.

Victor Fly Shop Remodel!!!

WCA Victor Fly Shop
We have been hard at work this winter season remodeling our Victor office and fly shop.  We broke everything down to ground zero, and after some serious elbow grease, some refinished hardwood floors, a couple new fixtures and lighting, we are complete and excited for everyone to enjoy our new shop experience.  We have expanded our floor space to offer you more flies, more awesome apparel, and more cool stuff that every angler visiting the Jackson Hole/Teton Valley area will need, want and can't live without.  Did we forget to mention a new hangout area and full beer license for your river beverages or post "Lunker" celebrations.

We are excited to be offering some awesome deals this summer; be sure to tune in to our facebook page for some incredible savings on some of your favorite brands, favorite flies or favorite equipment.  Also, we value what you need, want or like about our shop as a member of our angling community.  Whether you are a local, do-it-yourself angler, guided client or world traveler, your requests matter.  We are committed to serving every angler alike, so please let us know by completing our WCA Fly Shop Survey.  We look forward to seeing everyone this summer for an incredible fishing season.

International Trip Update: Playa Blanca, Mexico!!!

Playa Blanca Permit

WorldCast Anglers had another exceptional hosted trip to Playa Blanca, Mexico during the last week of March.  WCA was very excited to see the upgrade to the new state of the art Cessna Caravan aircraft utilized by the resort.  The new aircraft can hold up to 10 passengers and makes the logistics of getting from the Cancun airport to the island resort as seamless as possible.  Did we mention it even shaves 20 minutes off the travel time to the landing strip!  Check out some photos from the trip on our Facebook page!

Permit are mysterious creatures and WorldCast Anglers has identified Playa Blanca as one of the best places on the planet to catch them.  The group experienced some exceptional fishing during their week stay at Playa Blanca.  With 6 anglers, with 2 additional anglers having to cut their trip short, there were countless Bonefish caught, and a good number of Snook, Tarpon and Jacks landed.  16 permit were brought to hand during the week.  That is correct, 16 permit!  WCA has reserved two weeks during the fall season to visit Playa Blanca once again.  November 3rd - 10th and November 10th - 17th.  Please send us an email, give us a call at 800.654.0676 or stop by any of our locations to learn more about these incredible international fishing opportunities and your chance to potentially land a permit in Mexico.
