Greetings!

It's beginning to look like summer!  The aspen trees are budding, snow is melting, and the overall color of each valley has turned from white to brown to green.  Stoneflies are hatching on the Henry's Fork.  The Snake river, South Fork and Teton river are beginning to rise from snow melt and the rain, which we received the past couple of days.  Our local area reservoirs are beginning to fill from the spring snow melt, and many tributaries will become high and unstable when summer takes a firm grip on the local area.  Fishing opportunities will be limited for the next couple of weeks due to spring run off, but the Henry's Fork should remain a good option with the Salmonflies hatching in the Box Canyon and Golden Stones starting to emerge in the lower river sections.  Don't forget to check out our fishing reports webpage as well as the WorldCast Anglers fly fishing blog for the most up-to-date fishing information in the Jackson Hole / Teton Valley area.
The Idaho Fishing season opener commenced on May 29th, and all reports from the closed areas of the Henry's Fork, Ora Bridge and the Box Canyon, are good.  Look for the Henry's Fork river to fish well in the next month.  Water conditions should be prime for the Railroad Ranch opener on June 15th.  Golden Stones should begin to hatch any day now as well as the beginnings of the PMD's, Yellow Sallies, Flav's and Drakes.  Two plus good water years have placed the Henry's Fork back into the fishing spotlight, and this will be an incredible year for the entire river system.  As always, stop by any of our locations, give us a call (800.654.0676) or send us an email if you have any questions about our trip offerings, fly fishing equipment or general fly fishing needs.  Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Henry's Fork Stonefly Madness!!!

They're here!!! The Salmonflies and Golden Stones are one of the most exciting aquatic insect hatches that usually brings the biggest and most aggressive fish in any river system up to the surface to feed on two to four inch insects.    Fishing is as visual as it gets with these big bugs and marks the true beginning of the summer fishing season.   When the river temperature hits the magical 53 degrees, stonefly nymphs start their migration to the river bank, hatch from their nymphal shucks and the rest is madness!
WorldCast Anglers wants to be the first to introduce you to the "big bugs" as well as some of the best fishing the Henry's Fork can offer during the month of June.  WorldCast Anglers wants to help with the madness this year by giving weary anglers a cost effective place to rest and a discount on Salmonfly and Golden Stone imitations.  Enjoy 25% off all our remodeled Island Park Cabins (normally $129 per night), and all Salmonfly and Golden Stonefly Patterns are $1.99 in our Island Park Fly Shop until June 20th.  The newly remodeled cabins include two sleeping options (2 full beds or 1 queen bed) and are clean, comfortable and warm.  Each cabin has its own bathroom, flat screen satellite television and mini fridge.  We also offer free Wi-Fi in our fly shop as well as free fresh gourmet coffee each morning.  The Stonefly Madness has started; don't miss out on one second of it.  To learn more about these awesome discounts, contact our Island Park office via email or give them a call at 208.558.7068.  If there is one hatch not to miss, it is the Stonefly hatch on the Henry's Fork!
WCA 10th Anniversary Party, June 11th!!!

There is no better way to celebrate ten years of business than to throw a party for all your best friends!  So please, mark June 11th, 2010, from 4 PM to 8 PM, down on your calendar.  WorldCast Anglers is throwing a party to say thank you, and we would love to see everyone!  Come hang out, talk some fishing and enjoy 15% off all retail purchases, free burgers and beer (limited quantities available), and enter your sales receipt from your purchase into our free trip and gear raffle.  Then walk across the street and enjoy some rocking music at the Timberline Bar and Grill from the Miller Sisters.  Directions to our Victor Fly Shop location can be found by clicking this link.  Give our office a call 800.654.0676 if you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing everyone on June 11th at 4 pm!

Dawes's Meatstick - Hot Fly!!!

We all know that big flies catch big fish.  It is the principal of streamer fishing, trigger a big fish with a big meal and more times than not, they will take you up on your offer.  Once in a blue moon, one fly will out perform others.  Fishing on bright or dark days, clear or cloudy water, the Meatstick seems to work in all applications.  Now available in black, this streamer has become a guide favorite on all our local watersheds.  Steelhead and salmon have also fallen victim to the Meatstick!  While the tungsten cone quickly gets the fly down to the depths, the red stinger hook seals the deal with even the shortest strikes.  Red flash material flanks the side of the fly to give a wounded appearance.  In essence, this fly has everything you need to make the big fish bite.  Whether you are fishing the black color or natural flesh, this fly should make an appearance in your streamer box this spring, summer and fall.

WorldCast Anglers' President, Mike Dawes, offers some insight into this unique fly's creation and application.  "The origination of the Meatstick took place 7 years ago after several spring streamer fishing days and some late night bass fishing infomercials.  The Double Bunny, which is fished extensively throughout the rocky mountain west, has always been a favorite pattern of mine, and I wanted to add a hook to the back of the fly to reduce the chances of short striking fish.  If I could make it move like a banjo minnow, big trout could not resist it!  I started using tungsten cones to let the fly jig up and down as well as added a red octopus hook, flash and pink chenille egg.  Presto, there it was, "The Meatsick" - looks like a double bunny, swims like a banjo minnow!  Meatsticks are currently in stock in our Victor and Island Park fly shops, but they are sure to go fast.  They are also available for purchase through the Orvis Company.  Please email us or call WCA at (800.654.0676) if you are interested in special ordering some Meatsticks for this fishing season.
